Default Sun Valley Fliers Pattern Championships, Phx. AZ, Jan 29-30, 2005

The 24th Annual Sun Valley R/C Pattern Championships are being held January 29th and 30th in Sunny Phoenix, Arizona. This year again the Contest Director is Rusty Fried.

This is the first pattern contest of the year for District 7 and the entire country. So come out and have some fun in the sun.

Below is the link to the contest:

Sure wish Rusty hadn't scheduled this the same weekend as the Arizona Electric Festival! I'm really torn between the pattern meet and the electric festival.

You could have your own mini-electric festival at the pattern meet...

At the time Rusty changed the date to January we did not have any knowlegde of the AMA electric festival. If we complete flying early enough then you could go down to the AMA field.

Well after the first day of flying here are a couple of photos. The weather ended up only allowing us to fly two rounds as it rained for about an hour in the morning and then started raining hard with lighting after the second round. It was also cold in the upper 50's most of the day. Tomorrow is looking to be a great day for weather. I will try to get scores and names up tomorrow.

Well today was much better with the weather in the 60's and sun. We did lose one plane in FAI to what appeared to be radio problems. Below is the results as I remember them. If I make a mistake on names, I am sorry.

FAI: 1st Tony Frak
2nd Troy Newman
3rd Greg F.

Masters: 1st Rusty Fried
2nd Dennis Suding
3rd John Weisniski

Advanced: 1st Tom Perkins
Sorry I forgot 2nd and 3rd. I know Team Yuma (Dave) took one of these spots.

Inter: 1st John Graham
2nd Brad (Sorry Brad I forgot your last name)
3rd Dave Borrow

Sportsman: 1st Harold Jones
2nd Gabriel Gonzales

Advanced was Dave Dehart (Team Yuma) taking 2nd and Ken Melbye was 3rd. Only a couple points separated them.
