Hey Quique, whoever wins the Worlds this year will have to put an asteric next to his name on the trophy because you are not there. I hope you make it to the 2007 WC flying the red white and blue.
To all the flyers from what ever country you represent cherish and enjoy the experience. With that said
GO USA!!!!!!! Mike

Still a few veeeery booooring hours at the office... but then I will meet up with Jani and Raimo. We will load all 6 planes to a trailer, take a ferry to Stockholm and start driving in the morning. On wednesday we will meet up with Markus and his family (who are taking a ship to Rostock) in Lubeck and spend the night there. We should be in Saint-Yan sometime thursday evening.

The Finnish judge, Esa Eirola and his wife Päivi are flying to Lyon and arriving on thursday evening as well. Last but not least, one of our helpers Juho Karppinen is coming by car from Switzerland on friday.

Team Finland for the F3A 2005 Worlds:
Team Manager: Raimo Ruokonen
Pilots: Markus Aaltonen, Jani Loikkanen, Kimmo Kaukoranta
Helpers and supporters: Ilona Aaltonen, Eero Aaltonen, Päivi Eirola, Juho Karppinen
Finnish judge: Esa Eirola

Let's see if we can get a group photo taken when we get there and upload it here.

Well, I know the thread wasn't supposed to be just about Jason, but I did get a call from him last night as he was sitting on the runway in Phili with Dave Stoddart, Brian, Brian and Trent. Then I get a call this morning waking me up with a voicemail saying he needed proof he was a contestant (something for customs), guess they liked his planes soo much they didn't want to give them back to him!!!

Anyways, I sent a fax with the proof of him being a contestant, so hopefully he's on his way safely down to the site!

Nothing like a bit of excitement going through customs in Paris!!

Also just spoke with Fabio Trento in Brazil, he had just finished packing his planes and is heading over tonight.

Now if I can only find some cheap tickets to make it over there for the finals!!!

Jason was going to be only a few miles away from my house. I thought that I would surprise him in Philly International, but the lay-over passengers could only be reached if I had a plane-ticket to get past security. Would have been fun to get a picture with him for this months K-Factor. Maybe when they come back with the world championship???

Regards,

Eric.

ORIGINAL: Jasmom

Just spoke to Jason, he is in good spirits and he is checking in at the Orlando airport now to fly to Philly at 3PM. He has a 3 hr. layover there, will find out more.....} Will try to keep the info coming from my end, if there is any.

It's fun to listen to all the different ways the contestants/helpers/judges are getting to the contest. Boat, plane, train, driving, if you cold hook everyone up to GPS it would look like ants converging on a sugar cube.

Good luck to all (go Yankees) and all in all .. have fun representing your countries and FLYING AIRPLANES!!!!

Last word I got was French Customs was holding Jason's airplanes because they didn't believe he was a contestant. So David had to fax over proof.

Hmm.. let's see.. an American shows up in France a week before the WC, with 2 airplanes, and clothes with Team USA on them.. but they don't think he's a contestant.

Leaving for St Yan tomorrow, (very) early morning. My trusty Mazda MPV stuffed with ... well ... stuff. 2x electric Elexant (made by J. Mach) plus 2x Abbra kit (Mach promised one of them to someone, so we have to pack them too). Lot of boxes with tools, batteries etc. Plus my son (11) and his little Super Zoom. Plus Mr. Mach himself, my helper for this ocassion. I am proud to be a member of the Czech F3A team (the other 2 guys: Ondrej Matula, Zdenek Frydryn). I know that my chances for placing well are slim, but any place anywhere in the middle third would be welcome (I consider myself still to be a beginner). My dog Amor will be sad to have been left behind...[]

Hi Everyone:
This is Don-Jason & David's Dad[sm=sunsmiley.gif] I just spoke to Jason, who is resting comfortably in his 'suite.' The trials of traveling are never ending, however, I am happy to report that all USA Team Members, Mgr's, and planes have arrived safely in France[sm=thumbup.gif].

Jason did tell me that after I dropped him off at the Orlando airport-they found out their flights were changed. Turned out that he and Dave (caller) flew 1st. class to Philly!

Getting out of Philly was a little problem-seems there was some luggage on the plane-but the passengers never boarded, that a 'no-no!.' So back to the gate to do some checking.

Arrival in France: As you already heard it took Jason 5 hours to get his planes through customs-but he and Dave still made it to the Eiffel Tower for a little R & R. Then down to the site.

Since they were the first to check into the Hotel-they managed to get a great Suite[sm=thumbup.gif] During my last conversation with Jason, I was advised that they had already 'popped' the fuses in the Hotel when they attempted to charge their batteries. After they were replaced-they 'kicked back' and were trying to play some Video Games and relax[sm=lol.gif]

Tomorrow will be their first day of practicing together as the USA Team-after-they find a car Dealer and buy some 12 volt batteries and chargers-seems it will be the only way they'll be able to charge their batteries.

Of course I am very proud of both my boys (men), and wish the whole team luck and best wishes for an enjoyable Event, safe return-oh, and bringing home the 'GOLD!'[sm=sunsmiley.gif]

Hi Mindy,
He almost made it to my place, but had to get early to the airport, so encouraged strongly it was better if he hightailed it there instead of here....;o}
He promised to call if they won. He'll be here after he gets home.
News are probably going to go to David or his Dad, I am not so well versed with the airplanes.......lol. I am the rahrah section and believe everyone that they are great fliers.......}
