Are the finals then on Friday and Saturday? The contest ends officially on Saturday?

Anyone know the drive time from Paris to the field?

Iraqi F3A Team Participation & Suffering

The Iraqi F3A National Team like others on this globe has received an invitation
To Saint-Yan
Our team since day one execute a hard R/C flying practicing in spite of the very
Complicated and unsecured circumstances in the country

We took it all by our self's, just because we felt this is the time to be among others

The models, the complete stuffs, has been shipped by surface carrier from Baghdad to
Amman, Jordan 20 days before the event to be in air freight to Paris

But when the team attended the French embassy in Baghdad, 12 days earlier the
Event date to apply the regular visa forms, officials there informed them that the vise
Process could take 14 days or more to be issued, that is going to be the day 3 of the
Event or later and practically speaking there would be no need for it, as they told
This was a part of the Iraqi's suffering
Thanks a lot

Wish all the teams all the good luck
Our thanks to Mr. Max Bishop, Secretary General, Switzerland, for encouraging us all the time
Our thanks to Mr. Pierre Pignot, contest Director, France, for supporting us

Ours is an international sport that should transcend all politics and conflicts.

It makes me sad to read your story.

Maybe next time.

Regards,

Eric.

Hashim I find the fact that there are Pattern flyers in Iraq heartwarming. Sorry that your having all these problems but Wow! I sure would like to know more about your situation. The brotherhood of what we do transends nationalities and we find just how many values we all agree on. Best of luck to you my friend. Mike

Hashim,

I know this is must have been very disheartening to you. However, please do not let this incident discourage you and your team from participating other international event in the future.

Keep up the spirit.

jasmon, yritetään napsia kuvia ja pidetään peukkuja Jasonille. Kirjoittelemme kisasta suomeksi myös lennokit.net foorumille: http://lennokit.net/viewtopic.php?p=92319

Arrived on Saint Yan yesterday evening after two days of hard driving. Today we had the official practice and model processing. The wind was blowing VERY hard and it made the flights challenging for lots of pilots. Tomorrow we'll spend on the practice field (Pouilloux).

Today we heard that all transmitters would be impond from around 7am to 8pm with no chance of getting them in between. This means no practice during the competition for anyone with only one transmitter. The reason was safety but does it make sense? Is it more safe for people to have second transmitter in their own posession and the other one in the impound? Next time I'll bring my old Tx and hand it to the impound...

There is a break around 1pm when the judges are changed. It would make sense to release the transmitter for those who have flown in the morning and impund those who are flying in the afternoon during the break.

We'll upload some pictures and comments to our Team's web site soon. The address is [link=http://www.hut.fi/~jkarppin/f3a/]www.hut.fi/~jkarppin/f3a/[/link] but the content is not there yet. Check it out again tomorrow (on Saturday).

-Kimmo, Raimo, Juho and Jani + the supporters etc.

For those outside F3A reading this string that may not be familiar with the sequences referenced (P05, F05), attached is a link to get an idea what they look like (from the airplane's perspective, that is). I finally got hooked in to DSL and now able to access this video to view it on line. It turned out pretty good, considering that the camera was duct-taped to the top of the vertical fin. P05 maneuvers are first, then the F05 seqence immediately follows it.

It's about 64megs big.... People with high speed internet should have no problem downloading it.

Now we got some pictures online: [link=http://www.hut.fi/~jkarppin/f3a/wc2005/index.html]www.hut.fi/~jkarppin/f3a/wc2005/index.html[/link].

The above page will be updated frequently, lets say once per day unless we are too busy drinking beer in the evenings

Day 1 scores are posted at the following link http://www.billeau.nom.fr/world_2005/news.htm . Team USA looks pretty strong in the opening round with scores in the 530-540's.
CPLR looks like he is having another great World's with an opening round of 583.45.
