Srikar,
I unfortunately do not have any news on the Focus Sport other than what's already been said. I should know something in the next week or so, Dave is in Phoenix right now and I don't think Steve knows any different. Stay tuned, there is a bunch of exciting stuff coming from Piedmont, and I don't think anyone will disappointed. 2007 will be a HUGE year, so everyone please bear with us as we get stuff sorted out and finalized.

Guys, y'all seriously can not believe how good this airplane flies.
There, how's that for teasing? Nothing new to update on my end, however Piedmont's website is due for an update in about a week or so. Dave just got back from Phoenix and has had some time to chew over things, and we took some pictures of my Focus II build to put on the website. I've yet to fly the airplane, but I've begged Dave to let us do some tricked out stuff to it, and I believe that it will fly well. I heard through the grapevine that Arch got a 9.5 on his 2/2 full roll opposite in Masters in Phoenix, so that's really got me pumped up. I've been spoiled by my Partner, so I'm very excited to fly this thing and get used to it.
But that's not related to the Focus Sport, the factory is geared up for production minus the employees as far as I know, so when everyone sleeps off their hangover, maybe some building will commence.

I hope I don't get busted for putting this here, and if so I do apologize.
The Focus Sport should be here in 8 weeks and the price will be $439.95. We are taking advance orders, to place one, please e-mail Steve wall, whose address is on the Piedmont Models [link=http://www.piedmontmodels.com]website[/link]. I figured there was enough teasing going on, time for some substance.
Also, I will be working on the website some this weekend and by the first of the week should have some things added, and some other things cleared up. The Miva Merchant (Shopping Cart) will be the first order of business, and I've heard that there have been some bugs with the Focus II ordering. Also, I will update the link for the NYX sunglasses, as it takes you to the Focus II order page when you click on the Order Now link.

Does the Focus Sport have a pipe tunnel? I looked at the pictures on the site and don't get that opinion. It will be a shame to have to have spoil the good looks of this plane with a muffler sticking out the side.

No it doesn't. You can get an in-cowl muffler for it and when the weather cools off, we're going to do that mod. We're going to try several different motors on it, including a Tower .75. Dave decided against the pipe tunnel simply because it would add complexity to the airplane and the intention of the Focus Sport is to allow for the economical introduction into pattern, in addition to making a good sport airplane.

New Peidmont Focus 90/110
Test fly the prototype!!
The prototype and designer, Dave Guerin, are scheduled to be in Chicago (Hoffman Estates) on Saturday, May 12 for the National Society of Radio Controlled Aerobatics (NSRCA) District 5 Official Judging Certification Seminar.
The airplane is scheduled to be shipped in late April to my home (...I should ask if I can make sure it did not incur any shipping damage...test flight or two or three...) awaiting Dave's arrival. Assuming the model arrives sans any shipping "special handling" it will be available for viewing at my home field in Port Washington, WI on Friday 5/11, Saturday 5/12 in Chicago and Sunday 5/13 in Port Washington.
Per the process utilized recently in Phoenix...if you are qualified, you are welcome to a test flight...no charge!
More details about the NSRCA judging certification seminar ($20)...
Chris Moon, the NSRCA District VP with the able assistance of the quiet and shy group from Chicago, have organized this event. The judging seminar will be held from 9:00 until about 11:30 at the:
La Quinta Inn
2280 Barrington Rd
Hoffman Estates, IL
Immediately following the seminar, we are going to travel the one mile to the Tri-Valley Field for an afternoon of coaching, flight demos, set-up and trimming. The club may have the most active group of precision aerobatic pilots in the country AND Dave Guerin as well.
You can reach Chris Moon (224) 805-3553 or e-mail him at [email protected]

Ken,
Yes there will be an ARC version, I am unsure of the pricing however. I believe that there will be 50 ARC versions in this run, and I'm not sure if there will be 200 total Focus Sports shipped, or 200 ARF versions, whichever the case may be, there will definitely be a bias towards the ARF version. But yes, ARC versions will be available for those so inclined.

Ken,
The airplane will utilize two servos mounted in the rear of the airplane, however, since I assume that you'll be buying an ARC, I do not think the process of retrofitting a bellcrank system will be at all difficult.

I just wonder if the plane will need the servos in the rear to balance it. Thanks for the replies!

New Piedmont Focus 90/110
Is this something new from Piedmont Models?
Not really, I had BadBrad Graphics cut me a "Mondo Size" Piedmont Models Logo for my Composite ARF 2.6 meter Yak 55SP...I just think the logo is cool!

New Piedmont Focus 90/110
Dave Guerin is spending the weekend in Wisconsin with me and my family and he shared some terrific news when I picked him up at the airport this evening:
The first production prototype of the Piedmont Models "Focus Sport" arrived this past week. Dave is very pleased with the execution of his design. The final production ARF kits will NOT have the black stripe across the outer third of the top of the wing and that the canopy will have the red applied over the silver. The canopy/hatch is made of fiberglass.
Photos and additional information are available at:
http://www.piedmontmodels.com/News.html
Dave tells me that the first shipment will be in around the middle of June and may be purchased for $439.95 either from Piedmont Models directly or Central Hobbies.

As of tonight, Dave has informed me the shipment is two weeks out. I saw the production version of the airplane shown in the pictures this evening, RTF, and it's awesome. Great build quality, and Dave seems to be happy with it. For those of you who do not know Dave, he's picky to the "n"th degree and this airplane seems to suit him just fine.

New Piedmont Focus 90/110
Status...
Dave Guerin is currently testing the first production prototype and is very pleased with the execution of his concept and design. It is my understanding that ARF and ARC kits will be arriving in the next 2 - 4 weeks. I do not know the specific date and would suggest any and all specific inquireies be made to Steve or Dave (336) 538-0440 or via the Piedmont website.
I will not be receiving my model (the prototype) until the AMA Pattern NATS due to my very full schedule. The model will be available for viewing and flying at Site 3 or Site 1 (depending where channel 30 will fly Wednesday) in the morning.

Somebody should tell Piedmont that their website is broken.
Typing "www.piedmontmodels.com" presents you with a splash screen that leads nowhere.
You have to type "www.piedmontmodels.com/Home.html"
