RE: Santa Fe, Argentina Team Hong Kong
I here that JB
I guess our guy`s are more focused on winning this thing than we think... I know Steve Coram is set to do well, In the days before he left from here in the west he was doing very well, i have no doubt he will get into the top twenty.
The Integral in your pic... is that a custom colour scheme??, it is stunning! How does it fly?

RE: Santa Fe, Argentina Team Hong Kong
Yeah Steve has been good for a long time . .
I'm kinda amazed they changed all their equipment so soon before they left.
At the Masters/Team Trials, I saw Steve flying his trusty Arresti (mod), Bill was flying a Oxalys, and Adam was flying a Genesis. They all flew very well, and Bill and Steve's flights (particularly) were rock solid. They all have new (and different) planes AND engines . . hmmmmm ?? I am sure they know what they are doing . . they've been at it a lot longer than me
The Integral is actually Stephane Carrier's (the original designer). See pic below . . talented young dude, ain't he. Mine is on it's way and due early December. I believe they fly well . . looking forward to it.

Day two is over, strong cross wind pushing out in the afternoon. We'll be flying in "Line B" again in the morning under different judging panel, thank goodness.

RE: Santa Fe, Argentina Team Hong Kong
Just finished having dinner with the Japanese team. According to Naruke, there will be an update on the YS 170 sometime next year, it will make the current 170 runs even smoother and with less fuel consumption. Futaba is in the process of finalizing the new 2.4 Ghz 14 channel rx, it will be smaller and even more accurate than the current 5114 rx. Futabe will also be offering more brushless servos next year, and will have an operating time of close to 300 hours between maintenance.
As for Akiba, there will be a new design from him in the near future.
Cosmo fuel may be heading to the US within one year. Our team is being sponsored by Cosmo at this year's WC, Alex has been running their 20% nitro from day 1 with very good results. However, both Li and I did not receive their Black Special fuel - 23% oil, 30% nitro, very similar to the Coolpower 30% heli - until two days ago. I chose to stay with Power Master 30% because that is the fuel that I started practicing with and was having issues with my 170 from day 1. Apparently, the Powermaster has less lubricant than the Coolpower causing my motor to run leaner in the middle of the flight during the whole competition. I'm planning to switch to the Black Special tomorrow for my last flight.

I didn't realize you flew for Team HongKong until a couple days ago. How the heck did you manage that? I was born in Greece...does that mean I could fly for the Greek team? I saw nobody from my native country showed up this year
Matt
PS- If a the YS 170 could be made to shake less, I would consider it

Think about it Matt,
All you'd have to do is surrender your U.S. passport, buy off your mandatory military service, and then fund your own trips as the Greek Team has never really been funded. For the longest while, it was a one-man show: Kostas Papaspyrou.

RE: Santa Fe, Argentina Team Hong Kong
Semi-final is done. Onda won the morning round on his flight line, still waiting for the afternoon scores. Still cross wind but with a lot less velocity, two days ago on my last flight, it was averaging 37 km/h gusting up to 39, I was having trouble just standing up right.
On the morning session, Suzuki did a real no, no. After his last maneuver, 45 degree up with 1-1/2 negative snap. After he finished the snap from inverted to up right, he was way high and did a split-S as a turn around for landing. All 4 of us looked at each other with amazement, and wondered whether any of the judges caught that. As his brother carrying his plane back to the pit area, he mentioned to us that Suzuki has never done that before. The person that followed Suzuki did the exact same split-S before landing, and guess what? That's right, Suzuki got all 10s, the next pilot got 4 zeros, and six 10s. This is suppose to be World Championship, not some local contest. Does it mean even our local judges are more qualify than the international judges?
Anyway, some pix from today:-

RE: Santa Fe, Argentina Team Hong Kong
To Dean Pappas and MTK (Matt):
If you hold dual citizenship you could do it. This is how I am able to compete at the worlds. Even though I became a US citizen as well I can still represent my native Suriname.
I think there was a greek guy in the 80's or 90's that went to the F3A worlds. I forgot his name but he lived in Daytona Beach, where I lived as I attended Embry Riddle in the mid to late 80's. I encourage you Hellas guys to compete as it is an honor to represent your country.
MTK do you know my friend Sergio Zamora (Delta pilot) that also lives in Whippany and flies RC?

I don't know your friend. Would you find out where he flies and let me know? Maybe we could hook up
