Default Unfortunate RCU incident...PLEASE READ!!

Over the last few days I have been made aware of some unfortunate circumstances that have occurred here on RC Universe over the past few years. It was brought to my attention that a certain individual has created multiple logins that include AAM1024 and Fast Freddie. Under these logins this person has personally attacked myself, Dave Lockhart, Mike Hester, CA Models, Dean Funk, and many others. In these posts he would login shortly thereafter as himself and try to defend the individual he had just attacked. He attacked on many occasions individuals with which he had nothing to do with. Either to make his own sponsors look better or to simply attack their products. This information has now been confirmed by RC Universe. Moderators have been working with Mike Hester and others and they have definitively identified this as Troy Newman. Mike also identified Fast Freddie when he logged into his Custom Airframes site. Troy has been contacted and has even confessed to doing so. He has also called and apologized to Dave Lockhart, however I believe that he did this only to try to save face with a major sponsor in which they both fly for. Horizon Hobby, Central Hobbies, YS Parts and Service, Piedmont Models (specifically Dave Guerin) as well as others are now aware of these events. Unfortunately many of the posts in questions have been removed, but a few are viewable below. In the Focus Sport thread he goes as far as to ask questions and then proceed to answer the questions himself and would then log in again under the alias and thank himself for the help. This is NOT normal behavior. This activity has also been going on for several years. A couple of years ago Steve Maxwell called him out as Fast Freddie who said he was from Indianapolis. He asked him if he was so active in pattern, why no one in D4 of D5 had ever heard of this individual.

This Genesis with the stab problem was a favor from myself to a friend and once the elevator was discovered as having a problem; a complete stab was over-nighted to allow the airplane to be finished.

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_45...tm.htm#4615012 - He trashes Dave Lockhart

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=3908855 - He trashes Piedmont Models

I know for a fact that his actions in my previous forum, ones involving CA Models, Mike Hester’s Custom Airframes, as well as many others have been very damaging. I’m sure many companies have lost money due to some of these posts. In addition to damaging the reputations of all involved, he is very open to legal action from at least several businesses that he slandered and did so with malicious intent (creating anonymous screen names shows clear intent to mislead). I have at one time been associated with almost every one of his sponsors. I know the people who run these companies and I know they would not condone this behavior. Central Hobbies has probably helped more people in the pattern community than any other vendor and I have had many conversations with Al about just this sort of thing. He is absolutely 100% the most generous helper we all have, and he has been so for 30 plus years without ever publically bad mouthing any company’s products or personnel. JR, Futaba, OS, YS, and many others have hundreds of sponsored pilots who do not behave this way. JR and YS have been around for many years and have a great reputation with their customers for service and support. Many of these companies he attacked are very small companies that cater to the VERY small pattern community. It does not take many questionable posts or statements to make a dent into their profits and force them out of business. No company has a perfect record of service. At some point someone will always have a problem, but we certainly don’t need people fabricating problems with the intent to harm these businesses.

I believe it is time for Troy, who seems to enjoy writing long winded posts to come out and at the very least make a public admission and apology all he has offended and attacked. These statements are 100% fact and can be proven. I’m also certain other individuals whom he has attacked will jump in with their facts as well. I can’t imagine the damage he will have caused his sponsor’s reputations once this is made public, as well as the personal images of several of the people involved.

This is sad that someone regarded as highly as Troy has been in the R/C community would stoop to this level. I would hope Troy would take this opportunity to admit what he has done and try to repair what little reputation he will have left.

I hate to say it but this is all true and confirmed. I have his IP on my own forum, although one slight correction, it was AAM1024 who registered there, not Freddie.

The mods confirmed this was Troy, and I ran a trace through my own forum software and guess where that IP is? Goodyear Arizona.

AAM1024 goes by the name "Allen March". Does anyone know what troy's middle name is? Well, I'll give yo ua hint it starts with an A. Guess what his birthday is? xxxxxxxx. of course after you trace the IP address to his front door, that is just icing on the cake.

needless to say, I'm not very happy. I was going to wait until RCU had a chance to handle it themselves, but well....LOL

Ahh well, I wonder how many pages it's going to take to get out of this one.

here have a good read.... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/sear...1024&top=20000

Please don't comment unless you read these posts first.

I know it sucks, but imagine how we feel!

This is all very sad and true. I was also told by the RCU mods that it was confirmed. Mike also showed me his evidence that he has and it's all true.

Start at this thread:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=4612650

and read down to post #62 where Mr. Maxwell calls Fast Freddie out.

This is so wrong and just sick. You will se just how he manipulated the forums and individuals here. He actually has discussions and compliments himself.

God bless you Troy Newman, your in one hot mess now.

I wasn't going to respond to this thread, but after reading some of the posts in question I feel compelled to. As I read through the posts it was clear that he purposefully misspelt and altered his writing under AAM1024 to further conceal his identity. Quite frankly, this is disgusting; however I am not surprised. Ethics have taken a back seat to "results at all costs" in the business world nowadays. Troy, if you did this I would like you to admit to it publicly. You see, as old fashioned as it sounds, I still believe at the end of the day a man is able to stand on his good word if nothing else - it means something. If the veracity of these claims is verified I will be writing to each and every sponsor suggesting they take appropriate action.

P.S. I've been around forums for years and have seen a lot of shady characters come and go, but never such a disgusting stunt pulled off like this.

Very disappointed, []

This is what I see, and it has been confirmed. You guys do a google search on AAM1024, and then take this IP # and trace it. I'll gladly submit to pulling internet records if need be. The mods can remove this if it's too much. But I think in this case it's warranted.

But it's confirmed by them, so checkmate. And I am really sad about this one.

Pattern Forum,

I made a very poor error in judgment. I violated the RCU rules for posting under a pen name and acting as a shill. This was done under the frustration of many things. While I am not perfect nor have I claimed to be, this was a gross error in my judgment. The comments that were made were a misguided effort to help people avoid problems that I personally have seen and the issues involved. As my name is associated with many companies that support pattern, and this hobby, I would not have said those things in person.

I felt I had to get things off my chest and used a poor avenue to express that frustration. For those companies, I first and foremost take responsibility for the RCU violation that I committed. Companies that I work with and support have been contacted and I wish to make it very clear that they were not involved and my actions were my own.

While some of the facts above are not my doing, the fact that I engaged in the use of a pen name to protect my identity was not the straight shooting and honest person that I am known to be.

I committed a violation of RCU proto-call and of the RCU rules regarding no pen name and acting as shill. Confronted with the violation of RCU rules by the Forum moderator I admitted to my part in mis-representing posts as someone else.

I express my public apology to all that may have been injured by my lack of judgment. This misguided poor judgment will not happen again. In the future I will take my frustration privately to the person involved. If any of you guys would like to talk to me about my actions or the issues involved, you can PM me on RCU or you can email me at [email protected]

Regards,

Troy Newman

Ever seen the movie "Cybil"?

Now I am going to take your own advice, and ignore you. But had I not pressed this you'd still be doing it.

Have fun.

-Mike

PS Sorry, but I can read the english language. And that's WAY beyond bad judgement. That was the worst apology I have ever seen, and really underscores the need for this in the first place. Good grief.

Troy,

I'm sorry this was done in the first place as many people respected your opinions and you purposely misled them. You attacked and mislead people about setups, other people, and other things. I feel that you apology is a bit weak for everything you have done. If one person listened to your misleading post than how can anyone believe what you actually post under your regular sign-in name as any more truthful.

Troy, your apology is as hollow as it is inaccurate. You confess to using a pen name as though the only crime was posting with an alias to “speak the truth”. The reality is you not only hid your identity, you blatantly lied about your background “I haven’t owned a new YS engine since the 1.20AC” and lied about experiences that weren’t yours, but composites of stories you’d heard, and then you used that false persona to illegally libel both individuals and businesses in an effort to damage their reputations and in some cases promote your own. It’s sick. Your apology not only needs to specifically be directed at the Companies and people you defamed, but probably needs to address the financial reparation due them for damages to their businesses. This falls short by a landslide..

You started this back in 2005 with this post: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=3320904

That was almost 3 years ago to the date.

Here is what is left of your latest attack: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=7859136 - just 4 days ago - That was an attack on CA Models. Read the posts below that to see the responses of that attack. You accused CA of bad business practices and poor quality.

On the 19th of Aug you were called out by the RCU Mods, then you went back to delete that post and others.

Where was this "attempt" to apologize 4 days ago on Aug 19th.

Hummm, sounds like a group of commercial/sponsored posters xxxxxxxx amongsts themselves!

These forums are completely peppered with thinly disguised, yet completely obvious commercial posts... either to promote products, plug brands or bolster the standing of that individual towards sponsers or even more spooky... within this community. It's disgusting!
Thankfully, most of us can see them for what they are and laugh 'em off.

Come on guy's, you're all as bad as each other. Make friends and move on.

Hummm...who mentioned thinly disguised commercial poster

Troy,

Thank you for coming on this forum and admitting what you did. That being said, the above snippet sure sounds like a gross rationalization. Your posts under the alias were far beyond simply recommending products other than those you are personally connected with. Schadenfreude seems to be the "drug of choice" on many internet forums, and some of you may enjoy this. I take absolutely no pleasure in seeing this. I private messaged you with some pattern servo/setup questions a while ago. I chose you to message above everybody else because I trusted your knowledge and judgement. I will be calling each of your sponsors.

Disappointed,
Nathan King

I agree with Chip's comments, so I don't repeat everything, but this action also shows everybody that this forums can be manipulated in such a bizarre way, that comments bashing products could be interpreted from now on as the competition of certain brand using other alias to say their product is better or sell it as that.

I also think the the owners/moderator should check for duplicated IP addresses so this will not occurr again, because if I say an aircraft is the best for me, how do I know now if the one posting that is a piece of crap airplane is not sponsored by or directly working for that manufacturer?

What I'm trying to say is, the damage that has been done to the forum community is not reversible, and an action from the moderators/owners is the most important at this time as appologies do not provide any benefit against the damage caused.

Chip, Mike, I guess what you did to unveil this information might not being easy, but thanks for doing it, as the result that should come from the moderators/owners will reestablish the trust of all of us participationg and those who try to make the hobby better and help the ones who want honest comments.
