Default Tangerine Pattern Contest/s

It's that time of the year again to begin preparing for the Tangerine Pattern Contest, scheduled to take place December 6 & 7, 2008, at the RCACF Club Field in Apopka, Florida. I'll be CD once again, with assistance from my Co-CD, Humberto Pomales. This year, to spice things up, I have invited Orlando Frets to act as CD for an SPA/BPA contest to run concurrently with the pattern event. To make things interesting, since points count for 2009, I'm considering proposing Masters pilots fly the new 2010 sequence. Also, does FAI still prefer flying P on Saturday and F on Sunday?

Since Sportsman, Intermediate and Advanced sequences are unchanged from 2008, I'd like some feedback from those planning on flying in Masters and FAI. Also, I'd appreciate hearing from everyone who is planning to attend this year's contest/s in order to get an idea on the number of SPA/BPA pilots, AMA 401-404 & FAI pilots, or those of you who wish to fly both contests at the same time.

Thanks,
Steve Homenda

Steve,
Let's fly the new Masters pattern. I will be moving up, and don't want to fly the old one just for this contest.
I'd also like to fly both AMA and BPA/SPA.

apereira,

Thanks for your reply. I'll be posting a flyer for the contest in the very near future along with hotel recommodations, etc. For the time being, feel free to access the club web site (www.rcacf.com) for a map to the field.

The 3rd Annual Tangerine Pattern Classic will be held on December 6 & 7, 2008, at the RCACF Club Field in Apopka, FL. Due to popular demand, Masters Class will fly the new 2010 sequence and FAI will fly P on Saturday, F on Sunday. Look for the Contest Flyer in the near future. AMA Sanction #08-1872. As previously advised, there will be an SPA/BPA contest held at the same time.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Apopka again this year.

Ya know, I had thought of maybe passing this year just to take a much needed break....but I think this is too much candy to pass up, so now it's on my calendar again. LOL

And Bill you need to come down! It's a fun contest. The field is neat, it's warm for that time of year, (usually), and it is always run very smoothly thanks to Steve and his crew. This year I think it's running concurrent with the BPA/SPA thingy and that should be a nice touch as well. if that's still the plan I will probably bring the Aurora from hell too

And with the new masters pattern being flown....that makes it too irresistable for me, so I'm definitely going.

-Mike

PS Yes campers are usually welcome, although no specific hook ups. I brought mine last year, and Larry and Chris brought theirs.

Hmm, I was thinking about a road trip this winter - sounds like it might be to Apopka (again). If I can get Dave L. and a few other guys from D1 interested, maybe you'll see us there. I may have to bring something for the SPA event too. That sounds like a lot of fun!

Cool... it'll be great to see an Aurora at a BPA contest again. I'll try and get Dustin to show-up with his too. I'll have the Calypso unless something else comes up before then. I know there are a few planes in the works, so hopefully they'll be done in time too.

Thanks Mike,........still need to come down sometime and fly with you! Is there enough parking for Campers down there? Looks like it could be a large contest!

Sounds like a lot of fun!!!

Oh yeah, I'm sure we can find enough room [8D]

Well our districts is the weekend of Oct 11-12, and D2's have been moved back a week to the weekend after that. Our contest is at the Ga jets field in south Atlanta, and a better field is hard to find! 1000' paved runway, recently resurfaced....as in not a crack or bump for 1000 feet....and it sounds like a couple more D2 guys are planning on the trip down, and I might come back up to yours the weekend after.

Bottom line, let's FLY!!!!!

-Mike

PS I'm working on the flyer for the districts now. Should have it up before I leave for the weekend.

SWEET! Part of the "coolness" of BPA so far, is that everyone flies everyone else's planes.

News flash: I might have a Tipo as well

BUT....I'm looking forward to playing with the new AMA master's pattern a bit. Maybe I'll fly the Aurora a couple rounds of AMA too just for fun....

And of course, whatever I bring, you guys are welcome to fly...AMA or BPA...
