Default YS 170CDI mount

Hello folks, I am thinking about getting a YS 170CDI from Singapore. I would like to know which of the mounts perform better, YS, Hyde, ...?
Thanks for your replies

Thanks Tuny. That seems to be the common opinion. I have been reading a few post on 2x2 pattern planes and most seem to prefer it.

There are some new Hyde mounts on the market that have been specifically specificalyl developed using the CDi engine and incorporate internal limters to prevent airframe strike. I think they are now available on the Central Hobbies site.

I am running one of the new Hyde LR mounts and couldn't be happier. I"ve been flying it all year and have had the same luck with it that I have all of my Hyde mounts. They just work, and they last. Plus Merle is very easy to deal with,

LR-85 is the new limiter mount that I'm using on the CDI. At idle the engine is virtually hard mounted, but this prevents any unwanted kickbacks and such. You will see more movement of the airframe at idle that before, but as soon as you advance the throttle it smooths right out. This also helps the idle on the CDI as the engine isn't moving much. When doing some testing on the CDI with the AR-80, the engine would move enough at idle that the throttle would close slightly with each bounce and wouldn't allow me to get the idle in the 1400 or below range. The LR mount fixes this. I have actually gotten it to about 1200, but I don't fly it there. I fly in the 1400-1500 range,

I dont have the info as to exactly when it comes in.

As far as noise, it is great. I had no problems last month at the US NATS with a 19X11.

Hi Rcpattern, did you have a chance to compare the hyde mount with that of YS?

I have never run the YS mount. I can only base it on my personal findings vs other Hyde mounts.

Thanks all for your input. I think I am going to pick up the YS mount since it's available at the same store in Singapore. Also I have mostly read positives about it. Somewhere in the forums, I read that some simple maintenance in YS mount is required after 150 sorties.

I believe on the YS mount you'll have to refill the shocks, but thats about it. They are a good mount. I don't think you can really go wrong either way..

Brett has used both and Arch is right, use either one. However, we found that for a firewall mount the Hyde actually is a little lighter because no adapter is required. If your plane has the rails in the nose for a mount the YS is the lightest set up.

If you are using the YS mount, be sure to leave sufficient gap 2 - 3 mm to allow the engine to move backwards when applying your starter. Otherwise the spinner will contact the nosie ring of the model when pressing the starter.

Wow, that's interesting, something tells me I would have found the spinner issue (hitting the nose) the hard way if not for the post here. Thanks guys. Do you know if the "CARF Integral" has rails in the nose? Also how to go about if the model doesn't have rails. Then do you use a hard mount first and then mount the YS style mount on those rails?

No, CARF Integral does not have rails in the nose, neither a firewall. You have to make your own mounts. Check the below link, Ivan Kristensen posted the pictures of how he did the rail mount for YS 170 CDI in his Osmose.

I hope this will help to solve your problem.
