Do Futaba 3152's make the grade?
There are a ton of ads on eBay with Futaba 3152's which I bought for my Scale model. Some people have written that they are slow at .018 on 6V. Is this too slow for a super slick little Pattern ship, or are they A-OK even at their bargain basement prices?

RE: Do Futaba 3152's make the grade?
Hi Chris,
I have used them, and find them comparable to JR DS821 digitals. They are a good workhorse servo for the money, and will serve well up to the point where you can justify higher dollar servos. The applications are a Venus II, and a 110 sized electric pattern model. Many hours/great service. I hope this helps. -Robert |

Thanks Robert,
I intend to use them on my new Focus Sport, if they are good enough. I guess my order is going in now. |

Hi Chris
What's up? I use them. I think they are good for the money. I also like the 3050 a little more torque |
RE: Do Futaba 3152's make the grade?
Chris,
They will work fine for what you are doing. Are they the best out there or slower than others yes, but they are significantly less expensive. They will do exactly what you need with no issues. Arch |
RE: Do Futaba 3152's make the grade?
Thanks Don, all is well. Saw you were making some fuselages, great! I'll check the 3050 too.
Hi Arch, I agree on the dough. Good to know that so many feel they are more than adequate. Gives one more confidence during the build. Going YS engine and Futaba servos on the Focus Sport. Chris... |

Hey Chris, howz things up in the flight levels?
Are you getting ready to do some pattern flying next year? I joined the NSRCA and plan to hit more than a few too with the Spot On 50 I'll be getting ready. Make a bigger leap in 2012 then (I hope). The Focus Sport looks like a good deal, I'm considering one as a primary shipand make the Spot On a practice/back up ship. Later. Mark |

They are no longer being produced and there are very few left. I think Central is already out of them and you'd have to go directly through Piedmont Models to get one. Arch |

%rap, my luck being indecisive about a serious ship to put up for couple of years. I'll call them tomorrow, much appreciate the heads up Arch.

Hey Mark,
Here are a couple of good ones. The Focus Sport and the Aquila. I agonized over both but chose on looks. The Aquila is bigger and is covered, though. http://shop.ne-aero.com/category.sc?categoryId=1 http://www.piedmontmodels.com/Focus%20Sport.html Act fast! Chris... |
RE: Do Futaba 3152's make the grade?
Talking about servos...
What do you think changing S3003 and HS-422 by a set of S3150? Tha plane is a sport .61 one. Cheers |
RE: Do Futaba 3152's make the grade?
The 3150's should work well in that setup. Being digital they should provide better resolution, and 50oz torque is more than enough as long as you arent running huge surfaces setup for 3D.

RE: Do Futaba 3152's make the grade?
No 3D setup... I'm running big surfaces but "small" angles, just for pattern... The plane is the Phoenix Models Accipiter; it's no fast neither (14% chord thickness)
Thanks for your answer. Guille |

You shouldn't have any issues then.

RE: Do Futaba 3152's make the grade?
Chris, Arch,
Thanks, I did look at the Aquila too, thought the F Sport was better looking soI'm going to try one or the other on Monday. The F Sport ARC is preferred for covering (and coming from Archiea better flyer). If nothing else, there's a Spot-On 120 that I can get for nearly the same dollars; any thought on that one guys? I do have the Spot-On 50. Ditto on the help for us old newbies too. Mark |
