You can pre-register at http://www.patternflying.com/TempRegistrationPage.aspx

Also, Sir William is talking about doing a BBQ Saturday night. It would be nice to try and get a head count on those pilots interested in hanging around (or coming back) for the thing. By doing so, it would help us determine the amount of food to get.

My wife's birthday is Saturday.. and I somehow don't think I can convince her that a day in beautiful Hemet, CA is her present.. Really want to come fly too.

I think I am staying close to home, Tony. I am helping some friends at the Chino Airshow with their warbirds Friday, so I'll practice at Prado in the am.

Well the first day of flying is over, we had 25 pilots, the biggest so for this season for the Dist. So the turn out was great, the morning started out clouded and cool, but by 11:00am the sun was out with clear skies. we did have a little crosswind, but know big deal, around 2:30 the winds picked up, so the CD call the contest for the day. So we did get in 3 rounds, will start early on Sunday, around 8:30, to finish off with a 6 round contest. So here are the staying so for and some photo's. I want to thank, those pilots that came in
from up north an out of state.

Thanks for posting the pics Jarvis. I had fun, even though I was the only one in FAI... Bill Wallace and his family did a great job, and the Hemet Model Masters club members turned out to help. It was good to see such a large class in Advanced. Sportsman also had 4 fliers, which is great. Randy McElhattan, from my home field OCMA, was making a great showing in his first pattern contest.

Hope the weather holds out today. I got 4 rounds in yesterday so I headed to Palm Springs to meet up with the wife and grandkids today. See you in Whittier.

Thanks Steve, I had a great time and met some great people and one really nice dog. Lynn called for me today, his calm and cool demeaner kept my thumbs from viabrating so much. He also gave me laundry list of things I need to work on.
This morning got a little wet and windy at times and I wanted to go home but Chris and Ron wanted to duke it out until the last man was standing so I had to stay to protect my slim lead (in Sportsman we are playing for second), BUT, we are planning a scheme to take the Queen down. If we can't do it with our flying skills, we will resort to ropes, masks, and pulleys.
Steve, I have your trophy, I'll leave it in my truck until I see you at the field.

Again, thanks to HMM for giving their field to us this weekend.

Hemet Observations-
Tony's got 2 props and only 1 spinner.
Lynn Burks put his instrument rating to use.
It was great seeing 4 sportsman (or 3 sportsman and 1 sportswoman-time to move up Jean!).
Advanced and Masters was fun to watch. There were little battles breaking out up and down the line.
Greg Frohreich demonstrated how to load all your 2M pattern gear (including a generator and a wife) into a 13 sec 1/4 mile car.

Thanks Bill, and the Wallace family, and to all the local club guys. You put on a fun weekend.
This was the second Harry Gould pattern contest.
I'm sure Harry would approve of the goings on at Hemet this weekend.

The only way we are going to beat Jean is to fly better than she does, buddy!
I'm working on a deal for a new model delivered at the end of the month. I'll plan on Whittier Narrows, how about you?

Hi Chris

Yes, I'm planning on whittier.
One of my flying buddies has dusted off his old pattern plane and we are going to fly it today, we may get another member of the Sportsman group. He is a lot better than I am, so practice, practice, practice.
See you in a couple weeks
Randy
