Pattern Survey

Hello,
The Board of Directors for the NSRCA, along with the profound efforts and knowledge of Dr. McGraw, have posted a survey on the NSRCA website. The survey will also be coming out in the December Kfactor. This survey is solely to help improve our community whether you're a member or not. The survey is intended for anyone and everyone that holds pattern near and dear to their heart. As the Special Interest Group to the AMA for pattern, the NSRCA is interested in guiding our community in such a way that YOUR best interests are at heart. Our president, Jim Quinn, has specifically said that he wants the administration to be more transparent and run by the community. We are listening and would very much appreciate you taking this survey. Your answers will be held in the strictist confidence and they are also anonymous. The survey is available now through the end of January 2012. If you take the survey online, it will be directly submitted to Dr. McGraw who will compile the results.
We hope that if you decide to take this survey, you will answer as truthfully as possible and again, understand we are trying to better our community. You may find this on the NSRCA website on the left hand side. Membership is not required and you may take the survey without even having to register on the site. It only takes 2 minutes to complete it.

We truly thank you for your time,

Scott McHarg
NSRCASecretary

RE: Pattern Survey

The questions about "fancy planes make me fly better" or "i am judged poorly because of my sub-par pattern plane" are interesting - there were a lot of them.

Is it really that big of an issue in the community? Do people really feel disadvantaged because they don't fly a $5000 airframe, or will be judged poorly because of a 5yo second-hand ARF?

I don't. I'd love a nice new plane, but just because I like nice toys. I think the judges mostly give great feedback after a flight, usually things I notice too, so obviously not because they like or don't like my plane.

I like this community, and pattern flying is fun. I am thankful for all of it.

May want to put a thread in the electric pattern forum...

I know it's not my plane, it's the fact it's the end of my second year in the hobby.http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif Every nugget of info and feedback I can get from judges/contestants/hot dog grillers in D4 and D5 I try to learn from....and it's greatly appreciated.

Thank you Scott and the NSRCA board for giving us the opportunity for input.

RE: Pattern Survey

I am happy to report we are having an excellent response rate to the NSRCA Member/Non-member survey. We need as many current and former pattern pilots to take the survey as possible. Many thanks to those who have taken the survey, and I invite and encourage those who have not taken the survey to do so.:D

Kind regards,

Thanks for posting the link. Structured surveys are a good way to gather member's views on both specific and general issues within their particular organization. Ideally, the resulting data can be used to improve the overall effectiveness of the organization in serving its membership. The survey runs through the end of January, and I should be able to have the data evaluated by sometime in February.
