Ice 100 or Motor?
 

I had a weird thing happen in the air today... I was flying my osiris through the advanced sequence, on the second flight the motor made a funny noise and quit on my first upline after takeoff. I was unable to get power back. On the ground the motor would only twitch but not spin normally.

Took it home and downloaded the data, the data showed prop strike detected at the end of the file.... I cleared the data and plugged everything back together without the prop to see if the motor spun normally, it did the same twitching. I have attached both data files, the first is a normal advanced sequence followed by the second attempt where things went funny. The second file is the data from no prop where it would not turn normally.

Any ideas what is going on or what to try? I am going to pull the controller and plug it into a different motor to see if the problem follows the controller.

Jeff, I had a similar situation and ran it by the CC folks at WRAM.  They said I should check my bullets and/or solder joints.  They were right.  After 2 years, one had become funky / intermittent.  That fixed the problem.  Hope this helps.

Thanks Dana... after confirming the problem followed the contoller I checked the bullets and sure enough one was a bad solder joint... redid the bullet and seem to be back in buisness

Cool beans.  I was all set to replace the old A50-16S when the CC folks set me straight.  The Hacker is still running strong in the Osiris.  Say, will you be in Owego this Saturday?  I'm coming up to polish my skills, weather permitting.

I will be there in any weather the field is only 10 minutes from home :-)

Connectors between the motor and ESC are EVIL!!! :D

I much prefer soldering the wires together......1/2 the solder joints, and no possibility of a loose plug which can arc, build heat, and in extreme cases start a fire.

Glad it was an easy fix.
