Pattern Transmitter setup

Folks,

Is there any type of "standard" setup used by folks flying pattern? I don't mean realtive to values used as these are pilot and airplane specific. I mean which switch is assigned what function. I know some guys assign "cross trims" so the elevator and throttle trims are assigned backwards. I currently have all three control surfaces (aileron, rudder and elevator) assigned to a single switch, and was told yesterday that I should assign them seperately. I would like to learn a "better way" and thought I try to find out if the is any type of standard commonly used. When I ask for help, it would be good to have my transmitter seem similar to what others are familar with. Any help is appreciated. BTW, I have a Futaba 12Z transmitter, so any setup configuration is likely possible, and not too hard to accomplish with my handy dandy Futaba User's Manual.

What is your appetite for workload? Over time, I've found that differences in stick tension, expo settings and to a lesser degree control throws, loom larger than switch location when I hand my tx to others for them to take a pull on one of my models. For my own sanity, I try to keep switch location consistent across models and keep switching to a minimum, in general. The ones I can reach without leaving the sticks are my go to switches, but may not work for others. What would you like to change in-flight? For example, many maneuvers can be made on low rates. Also, do you plan to take advantage of flight conditions as many do with high end radios? All very personal choices I've learned my first year in pattern.

Here's an old film of Chad Northeast flickin' switches:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXGNk-gJl5g<div>Some elegant pinky dancing.... makes you want to reach for one of those Euro Trannies... with the switches attached to the top of the sticks!</div>
