dz 160 engine problem

hello

Problem that happened to me yesterday in the Competition,The first exercise is a loop with a snap at the top.
While the Snap the engine at maximum rpm , after the snap i Closed the throttle and when I open the throttle again the engine dead.
I landed, I checked the engine on the ground idle and maximum RPM and there was no problem,The second time I've flown I've had the same problem and at the same time.
At home, I checked all the fuel pipes, including the pipe in the fuel tank and I saw no problem ( in the tank has the special ys fuel clunk ) .
I fly this model airplane with this engine for two years and had no problem until now
the engine is dz160, the fuel cool power 30% heli.
Do you have any suggestions for me to solve the problem ?
Thanks

kobi

I had a problem with the 160 "coughing" when throttling up after long downlines (never stopping though..). I added a header tank and solved this issue. My 170CDi's didn't like this set-up at all, but the 160's seemed to benefit. But as mentioned - try the easiest solution first!

Thanks Thinn

Hi Bryan
Can you be more specific please
Why do you think the problem is in the fuel clunk , Do I need to replace the Foam clunk of maintenance after Time ?
Thanks

Kobi

Just from experience with the 160.
I`ve run across this problem before. The clunk will look fine but it gets worn and cannot keep the fuel flow airless to the pump.
Sometimes just getting down to half tank will cause this problem as well.
Also check the front pulse tube it may have a small hole or slit in the tube from rubbing the cowling and can cause this as well when the fuel demand gets high.

I`ve never had to run a header tank But that also may work if you cant find the problem.
it just sounds like a delivery problem to me,

I've been using the Tettra Bubbless fuel tank with the bladder for 10 years on YS 140 - 170cdi and have never had a fuel problem.

RE: dz 160 engine problem

hello

Today I went to fly the airplane
I did three things to solve the problem:
1. I changed the ys fuel clunk
2. I changed the glow plug
3. I adjust the engine it was too rich
I made three flights I have performed dozens of :snap, climbs, and dives without any problem
I was very pleased with the engine and hope that I fixed the problem
Thank you all
Welcome

Glad to help Kobi

What happens is when the clunk goes bad, you have to run the Pump and the Neddle rich to get the engine to run on the high end.
After you change the clunk, is when you see the problem ;)
