throttle arm Become difficult to move dz160
Hello
My problem with the engine dz160 After a few flights the throttle arm Become difficult to move, and Then I need to disassemble the throttle barrel and clean it And after a few more flights the Problem persists. This is my second engine,My previous engine (dz160) was not this problem. Asking for your help to solve the problem Thanks kobi |
RE: throttle arm Become difficult to move dz160
One of my 160's did this as well.
The problem was the top screws were distorting the housing and pinching the barrel if done up a bit too tight. |
RE: throttle arm Become difficult to move dz160
This usually happens from the engine overheating, and warping the carb housing. causing the barel to jam when the motor heats and expands.
Remove the throttle barrel and sand it with 2000 grit paper Wet ,and replace if it persist, replace the carb housing. asmbly. Be carful not to tighten the carb housing to much this can also warp it and cause the issue. make sure the engine is receiving enough cooling through the cowling and make sure the pump housing also has direct air flow. I agree with Bryan. overheating OR the housing screws were tightened wrong, or too much.

I experienced the same problem with a YS 175 and we were using the YS mount. The carb housing is the main support for back of the engine and the rear dampener bolts to it. When the engine get hot it make the carb housing warp and causes the barrel to bind. We switched back to the Hyde mount which uses the bolt lugs on the side of the engine and our problems went away. I'm sure there is a solution so you can use the YS mount because a lot of people use it and it's a really nice mount, but you have got to have the correct torque on the carb housing and plenty of airflow for cooling. This is just my 2 cents and my experience with this problem.
