Looks great, I think the extra line on top of the canopy sets it apart. Good luck this weekend.

Finally finished my Integral . .

Maidened it on Saturday before the start of our 2 day Pattern comp, but had pump trouble (so flew the Impact). Fitted a new pump Saturday night and flew it for the last 3 rounds on Sunday, as I was VERY happy with it.

Finished a close 3rd in F3A . . and now has a total of 5 flights on it. Great start I think ??

Needs a throttle curve . . 2 or 3% down to low throttle, slight softening of the ailerons . . not sure about KE Coupling or thrust yet . . but feels really good.

Cheers, JB

Thanks for the compliments. This was my first ever full pattern build and I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Unfortunately I took so long to build it I am running out of flying season.

Claude,

This is a self design called a Lighting by the gentlemen in the picture, Jeff Carder. He competed with it in the 2007 US Nationals in Masters placing 4th. As I recall he combined design elements from 3 different aircraft's, Partner, Brio and Twister. The finished aircraft is absolutely beautiful and is an engineering marvel. Truly outstanding.

Jeff is a F-16 pilot by profession an is currently overseas and is a RCU surfer. Perhaps he'll see your post and provide more details.

There's a picture of him with the aircraft at the following link on page #5

Hi Glen

Thank you for the answers.

Now I remember this awesome wooden building of Jeff but I didn't remember that was the Lightning.

Glen, congratulation for your 2nd place in Master Catégorie.
I think the rule is "you 'll must go in upper categorie"
(In France the 3 must go in upper categorie).

Which plane did you use in the nats ?
Regards
Claude

Claude,

The Lightning is my pattern plane. I posted over on your thread about you wonderful built up wings. The Lighning has a wood fuselage, canopy, and even the canopy. The wings and stab are foam. It is powered by a Hacker C50 14XL with TP 5300 prolites. It weights 10lbs 14oz. I am awary for a year and I have a goal to redesign the structure to make it lighter. I was very happy with the first attempt, but now I see many areas that are way over-built. I am going to make a few minor aerodynamic modifications. I have to thank Mark Hunt and Mike Hester for planting the seeds in my head about wood airplanes. If my Twister kit would have arrived on time I would have never built it, but now, I think it is the way for me to go.

I am in awe of your airplanes and can't wait to see pictures of your new one.

Jeff Carder

Thanks Claude,

This year I competed with an Oxai Beryll GP

Hi Glen . . didn't you have a Integral ? . .

I saw a Berryl GP/OS200 fly in the hands of Ozzy Bill Bloodworth. Flew great.

How would you compare the flying of the Integral to the Berryl ?

Cheers, JB

RE: post some pictures of your pattern plane!!

Jeff,

Yes I have an Integral powered by a DZ 170. The Integral flys great however I feel the Beryll GP fits me better. Rolls require less work and it's much easier to control speed with.
