Naruke's new design - the Acuracy mono GP
 

I just received the latest Naruke design - the Acuracy mono GP - from Jet Legend.

I have been flying a Naruke F3A design since 2006, started with an Astral XX, then the Altair 200, the Asyuler, & for the past three years, the Aiolos. Before switching to Naruke's, I was partial to Akiba's design & still have the beautiful all wood ProLine built by one of the top Japanese builder - Inagaki - with equipment installed by Akiba himself. The plane served me well for both the 2007 & 2009 WC. However, with Akiba switching to E power, Naruke remains one of the few designers still offering glow planes.

Presently, there are six different versions of Acuracy mono/ bipe in the market:-

The Japanese built all wood mono & bipe GP, the Oxai bipe in both GP & EP version, & the Jet Legend mono in GP & EP form.

Since the Acuracy mono GP is an evolution of the Asyuler, it has the usual one piece wing, with similar lines, a forward canopy area & anhedral stabs. In addition to a flair rudder, it also has the flair elevator. The flair elevator helps in slowing down lines, I have them installed on my Aiolos for the past two years & really enjoy flying with them. Because of the more demanding rolling & knife edge maneuvers, the Acuracy have a very tall fuselage, especially in the aft area & a very big fin & rudder as well, it also have a counter-balance rudder to add more rudder authority. It will be interesting to fly a plane with a counter-balance rudder again, the last time I flew one was the Smaragd Z by Wolfgang Matt. So far, there are no T cans on any of the Naruke's 2M glow monos, but he did added a thin strip of fin along both sides of the fuselage, between the canopy & the main wing.

As usual, Jet Legend have included a lot of the necessary & good quality parts to make installation easy, & I'm sure most of you can put the plane together in a little more than a week. Unfortunately, being a natural born procrastinator, it will take a lot longer for me. Case in point, I have finished with the Oxai GP bipe installation since the beginning of the year, but still have not yet test it. Hopefully, I will have the chance for test flight in the next few weeks. Just don't hold your breath ... :p.

Since the installation is very straight forward, I will not be doing a complete build thread, but will post some updating pictures from time to time. In addition, my good friend George Asteris has been flying one for a few months now, & I'm sure he will have a better idea of the plane than myself. However, If anyone have any questions, feel free to post here or send me a PM.

Its Matt here in Alabama I to am a big fan of the Asyuler and I also own a fanatista. I realy likr b the hardware you are using. Could you tell me What type of tail wheel is that ? And if i may ask where can i buy one? .

I got the tail wheel from a Japanese hobby store. Unfortunately, almost all of their hobby stores do not sell to foreign customers. Luckily, I have a good friend in Japan who order parts for me from time to time.

Finally have a chance to get back to installation again. On/ off switch, battery, tank & part of the plumbing are done, on to engine & exhaust installation.

Throttle push rod, all of the fuel outlets & the rest of the plumbing are all installed. A few more weeks of hard work & the plane should be ready for maiden ... :D.

Other than some minor details, the installation is done. It took me slightly over a month from start to completion, my all time best ... :p. As mentioned before, others can easily complete one in about a week's time. However, I always would like to take my time to ensure everything is installed neatly & correctly.

AUW is 4,730g with all regular equipment, which is really good for such a huge glow plane, I must give credit to Jet Legend on doing such a fine job. I can easily save more weight by using a lipo rx battery, instead of my trusty 4 cell, 2,000 mAh nimh. In addition, I can also use the S-bus system for the three servos on the tail, instead of having three long extension leads. Even now, I will have a huge margin should I choose to add a cdi unit to the system in the future.

Anyway, I look forward to the maiden flight in a week or two. By then, may be I will have one of the new APC 21x10.5 PN prop for testing also.

That's a very nice plane! You have some unusual accessories such as the air filter, pipe setup, etc. This stuff come from Japan? Is that a purple valve cover or just an illusion?

The attachment to the throttle body is an intake air cooler, it's suppose to make the 185 runs slightly cooler, especially when equipped with a cdi unit. I have not yet had the chance to try it since installation. However, a friend of mine have tried one & claims it does work.

Looks like a heat sink? It would dissipate heat from the throttle plate.
As it is not in the intake airflow, I don't see how it could be very effective. I think it would be more beneficial to cool the fuel before filling the tank.

looks to be a stiffening piece for the YS mount. The 185 has more movement so this would make sense. How is everyone else reducing what seems to be additional rotation/movement in the 185? Is just changing the YS shock oil enough?

I have only used the Hyde mount on the 170cdi, 175cdi and now the 185cdi, but I am using the YS Super Mount 3 on my new Xareltoo. This part on the YS rear mount might be a good idea.?

I have the impression that the engine moves around more with the Hyde mount, so it will be interesting to compare.

From what I understood from the translation;
this serves as a stop and prevents the engine from moving forward. Thus, the engine throttle is more accurate.

Even though it will stop the engine moving forward, it's definitely designed to reduce vibration and engine rotation. Below is the description that was copied directly from their web site.

☆ is an enhanced type "V" type of mount reinforcement set for the "super YS mount".

③ 1 sheet rubber replacement has been attached. In addition I have also sold separately.

In regards to the throttle being more accurate if the engine can not move forward, it doesn't really matter. The throttle curve is set so that the throttle position is where you want it at any rpm. If the engine moves forward and alters the throttle position, then this is adjusted in the curve. Once you're happy with how the plane flies in regards to your throttle position, it does not need to be adjusted again. The throttle position change has already been allowed for in the curve and you won't even notice it moving.
I may try one in the future, just to see if it does noticeably reduce vibration. But if the only reason for using this device is to stop the throttle position from moving, then it is a waste of money and unnecessary weight.

After three months of procrastination & millions of excuses, I finally maiden the Acuracy. Since the wind kept strengthening at the Sacramento field this morning, I put in three quick trim flights. The first flight was very uneventful, needed one click of right aileron, three clicks of left rudder & seven clicks of down elevator - I'm using a very fine trim steps of 2 on my Tx. The plane tracks very well, it slows down quickly on down line after throttling back with the aid of the flair rudder & elevator. Since I noticed the plane was flying with a bit of a tail down attitude, I raised the front of the stab slightly - this plane have a one piece wing - by adjusting the adjustment screw under the bottom of the fin.

After making sure the plane can fly straight & level hands off on the second flight, I put it through the P-15 sequence, & it handled the maneuvers with no problem. Even though, the throw still needs to be fine tune, but I'm very satisfy. The third flight was back to more trimming with up & down lines, knife edges & more snaps. So far, I noticed up was fairly straight but it tucks to the canopy slightly on long down line. Right rudder knife was pretty dead on, but left rudder was tucking to the canopy. I will re-check all of the throws - especially making sure both side of the stab is straight. Hopefully, I will have time to fly again in the next week or two.
