2015 Jetero Pattern Classic

The 2015 version of the Jetero Pattern Classic is set to take place on June 6 and 7. We look forward to hosting a great event and hope to see all of the ususal suspects there along with anyone who would care to compete for their first time( or the first time in a long time?). We have a well manicured field with plenty of shade structure and power outlets. We have an air conditioned clubhouse that also has our kitchen and is really a great place to cool off and get something to eat between rounds. Trophies through third place in all classes and Sportsman can fly any AMA legal plane. Come on out and have some fun at what is usually a great event! Flyer and other great information on pattern at Don Ramsey's Pattern Page. http://pages.suddenlink.net/donramsey/

I plan on being there. Anything I can do to help? I live in Sugar Land and can come up there on Thursday and Friday to help with setup.

Mama told me to never turn down someone's offer to help! Really though, we will have the field cut the Thursday before the contest and all that will need doing will be to chalk(lime) out some box lines and center lines Friday morning. I will be out there 8 AM that Friday and any help that gets the chalk lines done earlier will get us all in the air that much earlier for practice Friday.

See you Friday morning, just not quite that early. It is a fairly long haul from Sugar Land through Houston traffic.

Less than three weeks from the Jetero Pattern Classic. In an effort to get folks to hang out and enjoy the perfect flying conditions that usually occur Saturday evening, I will be serving Czech Sausage, Kraut and potatos as an evening meal Saturday. Nothing fancy like our Cajun brothers. Just a little food to get folks to hang out and fly some after the competition is over. Looking forward to hosting everyone and hope to see you there!

motels?

I know the Best Western in Dayton is where the Louisiana guys usually stay.

Just now off Hotels.com

Ramada Houston Intercontinental Airport E.
6115 Will Clayton Pkwy Humble, TX, 77338
$60.00 per night
Best Western Atascocita(about 6 miles west on FM1960)
7730 FM 1960 Rd E Humble, TX, 77346
$90.00 per night
Best Western Dayton
1751 Highway 90 Dayton, TX, 77535
90.00 USD night

Hotels.com is just one of many good sites for hotels.

There has been a lot of rain in and around the Houston area and I know some are concerned about conditions at the field. I will be going to the field tomorrow to check on conditions and will post an update this weekend. We have just over a week and we drain well. As long as we don't get any major rain between now and then we should be good to go.

thanks

drmike 05-28-2015 11:30 AM

what is field address

drmike 05-28-2015 11:40 AM

which one is closest

4u2nv-RCU 05-28-2015 11:54 AM

9249 FM 686, Dayton Texas 77535 is the field address. It is about even distance to either Best Westerns. The one in Atascocita is closer to more dining choices and is between the field and US59. Hope this helps. Looking forward to a fun one!

With all the rain and flooding that the media has been showing in the Houston area, what's the field and surrounding conditions like? It's a long haul from North Texas (Plano) to Humble to find flood conditions like what we have up here.

So everyone knows...that is not Jetero in the pictures above. We never have had that degree of flooding, even after IKE. Our runway was quite flyable Friday and we have had minimal rain since. Yesterday was dry enough to do the trick and we have(according to the weathermen) a dry week ahead. All should be go. We may need to be careful parking RV's but otherwise should be good to go. Bring bug spray. Anyone who doesnt bring bug spray is a rookie!!!LOL Hope to see everyone there!

I hope that no one took the pictures that I posted of our club field, the North Dallas RC Club, under water, as that of the Jetero Club in Humble. Hopefully everyone understood the last line in post #12, "It's a long haul from North Texas (Plano) to Humble to find flood conditions like what we have up here." Ifsomehow the pictures were misunderstood by anyone, I apologize as it was not my intent to insinuate a flood condition at Jetero, Humble.

JetKatt

I was just making sure no one mistook you photos for our field. I knew it was not you intention to make anyone think otherwise. Come on down and dry out with us. Should be fun.

Hope your field has dried out some since the photos......

Jet Katt 06-01-2015 11:26 AM

All is good!! We'll most definitely be there now that we know the situation.

Weather is looking good and the field will be in fine form for our contest this weekend. They were able to mow Monday. Will roll the field this afternoon and then a final cut Friday morning just before chalking the box lines. Any RV's should stay on the hardpan and away from the lower lying areas. Mary Ruth has Lasagne on the menu Friday and BBQ brisket on Sunday. There will be sausage, potato salad and cole slaw Saturday evening after flying for those that want to hang around after Saturday's rounds and keep flying. You dont have to fly to eat, its just the best time of day to get some extra air time! Looking forward to seeing all of ya'll out there!

drmike 06-08-2015 04:32 AM

the contest was very good. the field was excellent and there was a great turnout. Thanks to John for a great job. Lots to eat and lots of flying. Just a beautiful flying site.

I have to thank everyoone who attended our event this weekend. and helped make it a success. First, I have to thank the club and the "usual suspects" that are the backbone of our club. Mary Ruth Cyr , Pat Wilcox, Charles Lamb, Mark Woodman and Larry Jordan are the names that I remember. Any one I missed please forgive me. Without the people running the kitchen, buying the groceries, mowing the field and making sure everything is top notch we don't have a contest! Ask any CD lucky enough to have Leslie attend his event and he will tell you it takes a huge load of his mind!(and she is a blast to have around!) Thank you Leslie! Getting Five full rounds with four full on Saturday speaks volumes to how organized our D6 pilots are and that goes a long way in making a contest a success. I also need to mention Ron Shirley's lovely wife Linda helping run score sheets both from the judges and then back to the pilots. She is also a reason we could get so much flying done! Thank you! Look forward to seeing you all again next year!

drmike 06-08-2015 07:17 AM

Ditto to all that and to your leadership. thanks
