23g. However, most Japanese RC sites doesn't accept foreign orders except RC Japan, & they don't carry them. You need to have someone in Japan to order parts then mail them to you.

Hi Con,

You're correct, it isn't a standard damper. I got it from Japan, but it's no longer available. i've worked out what the main damper is, but yet to figure out the mounting screws.

Just a quick question or two

Does the DZ200 (with YS mount) have the same footprint as the 170cdi (with YS mount)?
Will it bolt up to the Hatori 822 header (screw in flange) and work with the Hatori 821 muffler?

In short, apart from changing the prop, I'm hoping it's a drop in replacement for the 170cdi

I personally love my YS engines, best running glow engines I have encountered in my 40 years of flying. That being said, I can't see myself flying pattern with anything but electric power and I am not taking advantage of any of the high end telemetry features. The electronic features and battery technology is just going to continue to improve.

Please say "Hi" to Shane for me, I have not seen him since the 2007 WC in Argentina.

I remember Shane too. A true YS lover. Thank you YS guys for not all getting onto the electric band wagon. I leave that for the drones as a true old time hobbyist who likes the smoke and sound of an engine.

Hi all,

A quick update on the 200cdi. I have approximately 80 flights on mine now.I think there were at least 11 competitors flying YS (Cyprus, China and Turkey are not included in the earlier list) and 1 flying a DLE35 (impressive).4 flew the 200cdi in Argentina Myself, Onda, Cedric and CPLR. All flying low oil content 30% fuel.
  1. The engine is very reliable.
  2. The regulator is more difficult to tune than the 185cdi. In practice my engine cut in the spins. This is a symptomatic of a rich setting. I leaned the pump 1/8th of a turn then Mr Yamada came over and leaned it a further ス turn. It ran perfectly from then on.
  3. Cedric had engine spluttering. He changed the plug and ignition with no improvement. Mr Yamada then pointed to the Power box switch. He changed that and the engine ran perfect. This is in line with what I stated earlier in the thread. So maybe a separate line directly from the battery is the way to go.
  4. I have found with the 185 and now the 200 that the power transfer to the prop results in more frequent prop slippage. The new 185 tru turn adapter that fits into the prop is the way to go on this. Bigger surface area and a much better system.

It痴 a great engine.

Hi Shane,
Thanks for your insight. Do you have any more information about the DLE 35RA? Pipe, prop, performance, I know 'impressive', but why?
Thanks,
Will

drac1 11-15-2017 06:13 PM

The DLE 35RA flew very well. It had plenty of power and didn't seem to struggle anywhere.

Being a piped 2 stroke, I would have expected there to be a jump when it came on the pipe. As far as I could tell, this wasn't the case. Power delivery appeared to be smooth.

I was going to take a close look, but didn't get around to it.
