Very nice design. CPLR always has something different which is good.

A biplane version would be cool

Hi Claude,

Will CPLR fly this in Italy, or the Skybolt?

Scott

Hi,
Nice plane!
I hope someone will be able to take some video and post somewhere on the internet when it is flying, at the French Championships or at the WC later.
It kind of has some lines, like the sweept wing, that some F3P models have, like the Victory F3P model that has rather much sweept wing.
I saw the other day one Hui Yang Professional F3A reseller advertise they take (pre?) order on the Oreka already. I'm sure some Galactika users may consider this new Oreka as a future upgrade. I'm on my 4th season now with my Galactika and the Oreka looks very interesting indeed, but how well the new Oreka flies is the most important of course.

I think he will fly in WC Italy with Oreka.
Skybolt seems more difficult in fly F

OK

A rough fuselage side view comparsion between Oreka och previous Galactika below.
The engine thrustline and stab seems in line and same on both. The wing root leading edge is more to the front on Oreka and the fuselage is taller (deeper) below the wing. Rudder probably little larger on Oreka.

Interesting they write in the specification for Oreka:

"Air-break servo Futaba BLS 1374SV x2 (for GP only)"

So does the Oreka EP (Electric) version not have or do not need air-break?

/Bo

ini 07-11-2019 07:47 AM

No need for airbrake with EP as prop is a huge brake.

For anyone that has Facebook it is 38 photos of Oreka at Hui Yang Professional F3A Facebook page.
Very detalied photos and it show underside of the plane also.

Hi Bo,
Thanks for all your postings regarding the Oreka. I think the LE of the wing was moved forward to accommodate the significantly increased sweep in the wing and keep the C/G in the same place. A little bigger fuselage, but not as large as some of the newer designs (maybe by a lot). I'm sure the mechanical airbrakes are very effective (the braking power of electrics is quite impressive). I suspect by keeping the design a bit 'smaller' this will allow for some reserve power if wind conditions require it. I, too, am anticipating video of the Oreka, but sometimes the line between aircraft design and pilot skills get pretty blurry.

Hello
Third flight P in French Championship for CPLR
We see well "the significantly increased sweep in the wing "

I was little curious what the name Oreka mean.
I found it is a word in Bascue language (used in the Bascue regions in France and Spain) and it is according to Basque-English dictionary:

balance, equilibrium

Maybe that is the meaning of the word also in this model name context.

Hello
other hypothese
Oreka is close to Eureka in Greek "I found"
Claude

flywilly 07-13-2019 03:52 AM

Or combine the definitions and you get 'I found equilibrium' . . . almost 'zen' mentality: perfect harmony.

papaone 07-13-2019 10:18 AM

Hello

I confirm it is not electric power except starter !

Just wondering why the wing shape. Is he looking to fly fast and big or more like an F3P aproach as Gernot Bruckmann? New W. Matt Angelit+ has a similar style wing just more conservative.https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...89431a65f3.jpg

It is hard to figure out the real advantages with so much sweept wing as Oreka has, in the relatively low speeds we are flying our F3A manouvres.
But one of the most acrobatic birds, the Swift, has rather much sweept wing so it can not be that much disadvantages I suppose.

Yes he did, results are here:

PAPAONE can you comment CPLR flying style with Oreka in the french Championship? Big, fast 175-200m or slow, close and small?

drac1 07-16-2019 03:11 AM

Hi Claude,

Will CPLR be flying at the Grand Prix comp the weekend before the WCs?

Scott

Friend of mine told me Cplr flew as usual but with lower descent speed.

"Will CPLR be flying at the Grand Prix comp the weekend before the WCs? " Sorry I dont know !
