I am in need of some counselling.......This Monday whilst practicing for next years full assault on the senior class my beloved New Solution decided that it didn't want to be with me any more and whilst in a nice 200foot loop decided to fold it's wings and plummet vertically into the ground.:(

How can I now pick myself up after so much time together with this one model that I have got to know so well!

Above all how on earth can I afford to replace such a beautiful plane with a young baby on the way?

Well you won't have much use for an aeroplane in a few months after the baby arrives... you'll be to tierd and bewildered to fly old chap.
Look on the bright side, salvage what you can and strap it into a ARF Focus. What sort of cheapo rubbish ARF aeroplane do you get for you 450pounds? Well it was good enough to win 1st place F3A in the recent US Nationals.... not to shabby for a China special!
Makes you think.

Or build a Typhoon or Patriot from plans. Can be done for less than $100 worth of wood!

Simple solution. THe moment the baby drops you send the women out to work for your airplane money. Perhaps the baby will be really cute and photogenic and can earn you additional hobby dollars modeling toddler clothing and swaddling.

OK, OK, I'm kidding here.

I'm sorry to hear about your airplane loss but congratulations on soon to being a father. I fly the latest stuff and I am retiring from the Army in 11 months. I'm not sure of what my financial outlook will be at that time and I surely understand a tightening budget. I guess that I will try and start contract building to earn hobby dollars if necessary. Right now I have a pretty good reserve in servos and motors, but the day will come when I have to break into the piggy bank for a bottle of Coolpower.

As far as the loss of a loved one, I understand that too. I lost my best airplane last September and still cannot really talk about it easily. It hurt badly, cost me a contest, but I am now building two replacements while the cash is still flowing.

mark all you old guys think its hard to get money......well i can understand for those in thier 20-30's but for you older guy man.......i'm only 13 and it it really hard to get money......the two places i would work wont let me cuz of age laws.........i'm trying to save for my 2m right now........sorry bout the loss......i also lost my bird not long ago.........the new ones on the way:)

And 3DUK, I'm sorry to hear about you loss too. I wish you the best of luck finding a replacement airplane. Once you fly a true pattern plane, it's HARD to want to fly anything else ;)

I know how feel, my Widebody folded her wing yesterday also. This plane was awesome, I wish it had a bigger tank because I hated to land. It's still in my car, I can't bring myself to go out and look at it to bring it in.

Guys your sympathy really helps!

As for the last comment on weak plane earlier in the flight I was doing 200 foot diamond loops with snaps on the 1 and 4 of the square so if it was week surely it would break there or on the corner of a loop?

I defo think baby modling is a fab idea just worried about the kid getting above themselves and turning into a bay arnie...then before I know it the kid will be borrowing my planes and beating me at comps.

rc_sport I know how you feel it took me until now tolook in the garage at the wreckage!! tell you what those OS140's are tough rescued from 12inches under-ground and all it needs is a clean!!
