Focus II Initial Flight Impression
 

I had the privilege of getting to fly the new Focus version II last Sunday with Lee Davis, and a couple of days to think about the flight characteristics.

In summary, this is the initial assessment; realize this is just first impression.

"This is the best flying airplane I have flown".

The plane was flown in a significant crosswind. The first thing I noticed is how well the airplane handled in these conditions. The aerodynamic forces across the fuselage are very nearly balanced. This translates to less pilot workload for rudder corrections.

The speed of the airplane is very consistent.

The weight of the airframe feels lighter than previous versions I've flown. However it still handles extremely well in the wind.

Rudder control is solid, requiring less rudder in rolling maneuvers and rudder is less critical to timing; rolls appear to be more axial.

I then proceeded to do a number of high g snaps to test airframe soundess. Snaps are solid, predictable and stable on exit. Thats about it. Overall an excellent product.

I have one coming to fly while I finish up the electric Supreme, and then to be my backup. Sounds like it's a winner from everyone who's flown it or seen it fly.

The airplane had a Webra Engine.

Do you know if the kit was built stock? Also, did it use a bellcrank for the elevators or the stock system? any info would be great, looking into possibly getting one. I ask because in the manual the elevator and rudder servos are next to each other, and in that instance I would assume that you would get slop in the rudder cable by the rudder servo not being centered in the middle of the fuse.
