A few maneuvres explanation
 

hi guys,

recently some one told me about a manuevre called Goldfish.what is this?how do u perform it?

secondly what is a hammerhead? is it stall turn or is it different? if it is stall trun tehn why we have 2 names instead of just one perhaps for confusing people :-)

Americans call the stall turn a Hammerhead.

As for the goldfish, it is a cuban eight but with a sqare loop at one end, which looks like the tail of a fish.

It is a half cuban eight with a 45 degree up line and level flight at the end.

In F3A, P05, it starts with a level inverted entry, pull to 45 degree down, 1/2 roll centered on the line, then 3/4 inside loop to inverted down 45 degree line, 1/2 roll centered on the line, at end of line, pull to level flight. The rolls should occur at the same point on the lines.
If you draw this out, it looks like a fish, sorta.

Regards the "Hammerhead"....I don't know if there are descriptions or rules to support this, but I've always heard the Hammerhead is a vertical line, with a 180 degree yaw turn that takes MORE than 2 wingspans, thus being "flown" through the turn, then a vertical down line.
The STALL Turn is very similar, except manuever descriptions require that the up and down vertical lines are the same track, thus requiring the "turn" at the top to be essentially a pivot, or autorotation about the CG in the Yaw axis. Stall turns carry significant judging downgrades if the pivot uses more than 1 1/2 wingspans.
To the best of my knowledge, all F3A maneuvers like this are STALL turns, and not Hammerheads.

Reverse Cuban 8: Before center, pull to a 45 degree line, with a 1/2 roll at center (& centered in the 45 line). Pull a 3/4 loop back to a 45-degree line. Perform a 1/2 roll in the center of the 45 line. Perform a 5/8 loop back to your starting horizontal line. The two 1/2 rolls should cross over each other at center.

Goldfish: This is a Reverse Cuban 8 without the 5/8 looping part at the end. As a turnaround maneuver, it is performed after center.

Hammerhead/Stall Turn: A shark in the oc.....oh wait, it's another name for a stall turn. Pull to a vertical upline, draw a straight line and slow the plane down. Perform a 180 degree yaw turn (no more than 1 1/2 the wingspan of the model) at the top of the line. Recover to a vertical downline. I personally prefer stall turn over hammerhead (pattern background) even though I'm an American ;). I know in IMAC the preferred term is Hammerhead, and has the same description or at least real close).

Wingover: This is a Hammerhead/Stall Turn, but the yaw turn is greater than 1 1/2 wingspans.

OK so the goldfish I have been doing is different from that to everyone else. Still I like the way it looks :D

What you are doing is a Bow Tie. It's a Goldfish with the end flattened, and that it looks like a bow tie anyway.
