Best JR servos for a 90 size patternship

Hi guys,

I am looking for the best performance and ecnomical JR servos to use with a new 90 size patternship for rudder(pull pull),elevator(one for each half) and ailerons of (course 2) so what do u people suggest?Only tell JR or Hitec servos only.

Thanks

If you are looking for the best JR servos then I would recommend the DS8411 or DS8611 servos.

For a .90 sized pattern airplane, I'd go with the following.

Rudder - 8411SA or 8231
Elev - 3421. I'm using these in my 2m Supreme.
Ail - 9411.

Gee they're ecomonical

But unfortunately the guys are right, spend as much money as you possibly afford on your servos.

The resolution and control you'll get it worth every penny.

for 90 size id go with 8231's all around, 1 for whole elevator is fine. if you want to save a few bucks then 8101's could subsitute nicley.

You're not likely to need a 9 kilo servo for each aileron! I'm building a 90 plane with two DS8321 on the tail and I have two DS8301 for ailerons. I think it's overkill and would be better suited for a 2-meter. That's why I bought them, so I'd have some when the 2-meter day finally comes :D

I have another 90 size plane with 4 std hitec servos, none of which have ball bearings. It flies great. Don't ruin yourself on servos. Hinge properly and seal the gap. That's what makes the difference. It wasn't very long ago the 60-size, and even 1.20 size planes flew very well indeed with only 4 kg servos. I've flown 60-90 size aerobats for years with 4 kg std servos and not once had flutter or servo failure.

Well.. I disagree. Servos are the one place on an airplane where you really want to get the best you can afford. They are your link to the aircraft, and better servos DO make a difference. The precision alone is worth it.

Well Guys I am flying one Patternship with 517 ball bearing servos. The aircraft flies and tracks very precisely.I can do almost all pattern manoeuvres on it, my most favorite being 8 point roll.
If I switch to precsion(as they say) digital coreless servos what difference would it make?
Will I be able to do a 16 point with the ease of an 8 point? I dont think so coz I believe its more related to Practice Practice & Practice. So how this investment is gonna help me with my flying?[8D]

It's finite control with digital.

I've noticed a lot of guys say that they can "feel" the difference between the servos.

you need to be a decent pilot to notice but yeah, I beleive it too now.

I don't trust 517's for anything other than sport flying hack models.

Just buy 2 "good" servos and put them on your ailerons, then you will understand. A long time ago I had plain ball bearing servos in my first pattern plane, and I was happy. Then I freind let me borrow 2 coreless servos to try for a weekend. Wow, huge difference. I ordered 4 new coreless servos that night. You will be a better, more precise flyer with good servos. Just try it.
