YS 1.20 NC

I'm looking for a horsepower rating on a YS 1.20 NC. Most 1.20's are in the 2.0 hp range, but I'm wondering how much additional power the supercharging found in a YS adds. I'm using the engine in a scale Spitfire, and would like to have some idea of the hp/weight ratio.

Thanks in advance.

RE: YS 1.20 NC

Rick,
I not sure of the horsepower rating but from real world experience the 120NC has a ton of power. I flew a 120NC in a 1/4 scale Edge 540 that weight 11.5 pounds. I used an APC 16x8 and it would turn 9000+ RPM's. Hauled it around with great authority. I put the same engine in a 120 sized pattern ship spinning a 15x11 and I was getting 9300 static. A few great things about YS motors is the throttle response, low end tourqe, and built in fuel pump. I can pretty much say without a doubt the YS line of 120's will out turn Saito or OS.

RE: YS 1.20 NC

Thanks Michael.

I just received an e-mail from Performance Specialties. Dave, from PS, indicated that it will put out +/- 2.5 horse depending on nitro. The 16 x 8 prop is recommended and he suggested running it at 8500 rpm's. I'll be running it in a 80" Spitfire that I've edited together, which is now ready to run.

Should be fun.
