Retract advice...
I'm having some issues with some mechanical retracts in a 120 sized ship. Retract servo is in fuse, plug in wings. The issue revolves around plane assembly/disassembly... major pain. I'm using ball links now, they thye are difficult to put on/take off. Any advice? Thanks.

RE: Retract advice...
My buddy has a Prophecy and doesn't like to remove the belly pan every flight so he has the retract wires coming out of the fuse with a regular clevis and fuel tube clamp. He puts the wing on with the wire going through the retract hole in the root rib. Uses a hemostat to connect the clevis to the retract, slide the fuel tubing forward and whalla, retracts hooked up.
Cleaning up is the reverse and actually only takes a couple of seconds. For me, I have used the spring loaded ball links on the servo wheel(I've always had a removable canopy) made by Sullivan. These go on very easily and have never had one pop off. ed |
RE: Retract advice...
Have you tried the spring loaded ball joints? Simply pull the keeper back, slide the ball joint on or off, and then let go of the keeper. I have had great success with these in the configuration you mention. I wish I had the part no. but I threw the packaging away.
