Aresti 40 help
I have been flying a Thunder Tiger Giles 202 for a few months. It stalls easy and requires alot of speed. Im have had some close calls landing with this plane, but it does fly OK in the air. I have only been fling the low wings for about a year. I love the looks of the hanger 9 Aresti and from what I have read its a pertty good fling plane. I bought the 40 size ARF and about to start building her. The people here are the best sourse for knowledge and experience. I plan to use a G 51 Super Tiger with a pitts muffler and a 11-6 wood prop. Futaba equipment on board with a computer radio. Can anyone please tell me the little sercets that are not in the instructions and the best way to build her. Is the equipment that I have chosen OK. Also can someone tell me how she will fly so I can prepair myself.
Thanks Larry |
RE: Aresti 40 help
pitts muffler?
|
RE: Aresti 40 help
The super tiger was for a warbird so I bought a pitts muffler.I sold the warbird before I mounted the G-51. I was thinking if the G-51 was mounted inverted, then the pitts muffler would invert to and add a little more power since I alreaddy have it. The pitts muffler is a Slimline. Do you think this is a bad idea? Any help is greatful.

RE: Aresti 40 help
They only thing I did to mine is I glassed the back of the firewall to the fuse sides. Your going to love it, its a very smooth flying plane. With the TT it should be ballistic.

RE: Aresti 40 help
The control rods look small. Should I up them to at least to 2-56, and would you go with the tune pipe ratherthan the pitts muffler.
You are making me feel a whole lot better about this plane rc_sport-RCU. As I look at how much more of a project than I first thought. Thanks :D |
RE: Aresti 40 help
Just leave everything alone, it'll be fine. The only issue I have is with the swept back gear taxing can be a challenge. You'll have to hold full up till you build up speed. This plane can do the Aresti manuevers very well.

The pitts just is not going to work inverted. I have chose to use a Macs pipe. How well do the Black sold one below work?

RE: Aresti 40 help
OK
My first mistake. I was placing my aliaions CA hinges in when I grabbed my CA glue. by mistake I used the median instead of the thin. I pulled on the ailerons and they seem solid. Can I leave well enough along, or remove them and start over. Thats a big job and hope not to attempt it, but I do wish to do it right. |
RE: Aresti 40 help
Give them a good hard tug, if they hold then leave them alone.

RE: Aresti 40 help
Thanks for the input. I did just that. Have you used or have any knowledge about the macs solid black tune pipe that I asked about in the earlier post. I am using a SUPER TIGERG-51 with that muffler. It fits perfect. will I have the power that I need and what did you CG yours at.
Thanks |
RE: Aresti 40 help
I don't know anything about Macs, but you should plenty of oomph with yours. I balanced mine as per specs.

RE: Aresti 40 help
Thanks
I had to use cable instead of the rod that came with the ARF for the throttle. Did you have this problem. The day for its first flight is coming soon. Hopefully next weekend. Thanks Larry |
RE: Aresti 40 help
I use cable on all my planes

RE: Aresti 40 help
HI
I flew the Aresti. Super plane. She was slow to turn. D/R were at 80% on low rates. I could not understand it, but after a close check of the CG, I was 1 OZ nose heavy. She will turn on a rail now. She landed like a trainer on a dead stick first flight. I actually just was going to taxi her, but she was moving good so I let her fly. I just had about a 1/2 tank as I was not plaining to take off. Dead Stick first flight. I was looking for a soft place to land, because my Giles would have came down fast more like a rock. Do not take me the wrong way I love my Giles, but they like speed. I turned the Aresti and started my approach. She came to a stop about 20' from me. I liked that! Great: loops, rolls, hammer heads, hovers, and exe. If someone is looking for a low wing that has graduated from a trainer this is a plane to look at because it lands much like a tri trainer. Very responsive, but after you get use to it you will love the responsiveness. Thanks rc_sport-RCU for your help, and you where right, I love the plane. Freebird |
