Which YS 160 engine mount?
 

Hi Guys,

I am looking at getting one of these mounts. I am not sure which one is better for my new 160Dz.

Any experiences with these mounts or others that are also recommended would be very much appreciated.

I like the ARA type Hyde mounts. They are small, have aluminum beams with only two bolts, are very light and very effective. The ones shown on probuild are not the ARA type. See http://www.centralhobbies.com/Engine...ydemounts.html , second to left.

I like AR or ARA type Hyde mounts.

Yes.... they are very effective.

Both types require nose ring.

I have tried one of those with the incorporated nose ring. Unless the firewall is stiff enough, the engine flexes big time. I ended up retrofitting a regular nose ring in the front of the fuse, and problem solved.

The Hyde ARA mount, with the alloy beams, is about 1oz lighter than the version with the glass/nylon beams. I have two, they are fabulous mounts and very light. I wouldn't use anything else.

I also have that mount on the 160. Its a great and very light mount. you wont find anything better in my opinion( or more expensive!)

Hey guys.

Does the ARA mount only use 2 mounting bolts instead of 4?? Is it already predrilled?

No one mentioned the mount from Gerry Budd. Any experience there. Had heard they were lighter and less $$.

Check this one out. Very nice, very expensive and very practical! Note the thrust angle adjustment... thats a real pain adjustment with any other type of mount... including Hydes.
You just loosen the three bolts holding the fire wall mount to the triangle enging bracket, slide it either way and then tighten 'em up again.
If adjusting your right thust is your thing... you'll be doing it all over yourself with this baby. Yippee.

The ARA mount uses one bolt per side, as the alloy beams are so much stronger than the nylon ones. They come pre-drilled with bolts (as it should at that price!).

It doesn't seem like much to hold the engine but it does work very well indeed.

It's available from ZN, at ZN prices. For a nice guy like you say, 240 Euros!!!!!!
I'd be looking to modify the super cheap Budd mount to function in a similar way (right thrust adjustments I mean). Shouldn't take long in the work shop.
Heres another Hyde type, from BN models in Turkey. Seemly it's made in Canada... and cheap. I have one, it's very nice.

The Budd Engineering mount is the one included in the X-Treme Astral XX kit.

It's made by NB engineering and is/was a lot more expensive than I thought $99. I payed nothing for mine, it's included in BN kits!

Looks like the Budd option is just fantastic. It's adaptable, it's light, you could do the right thrust modifiction trick to it and it's super cheap.
Dosen't get better than that does it?.

Another kind of mount : flex mount kato on wood support
