Sensation 1400 Pattern Plane

I (sniff0 lost my tiger 60 (sniff) (RIP) yesterday at the end of working on my pattern and dumb thumbed into a fence.
I found a hanno Pratner sensation 1400 (40 size ) all put together no motor or servos and brand new for a decent price so I bought it so I hopefully be ready for the meet in Landcaster.

Has anyone flown one of these and have any advice or things I need to know about. It was a KOYOSHO AFT and was put together by a Whitter Narrows Club Member for display.

I am currently building a safhir by hano pratner and know his designs are good.

Any Help will be appreciated.

Hi Walfam,

I had a Kyosho Sensation 40 with a YS 45 engine, mounted about 45ยบ inverted, so that the exhaust exits below and in the fuselage center. You can see a similar assembly in:

I consider this plane fantastic in .40 class. The inverted and knife edge flight is awesome. If I will have other I would use a YS 63 to obtain unlimited vertical and big rounded loops. Verify and reinforce the stress points as firewall, fixation point of the landing gear and wing. Please, maintain the airplane the lightest than you can.

Hey Walfam your lucky to have one of those. I had one 3 years ago and it flew very well. It's also a very nice looking design. The only thing I didn't like about it was the way it snapped. As far as my favorite 40 sized pattern plane it's the Venus 40 but the Sensation is really solid! Good luck with it. Mike

I had three of these things. Nice airplanes. I handed mine to a world's competitor to see what a professional could do...wow...really a straight shooting airplane. It likes to fly a bit faster than others in the same class. Mine were unlimited with .46FX (just), .50SX (pretty good, more is not needed), and YS63 (not needed but makes it easier). Only changes I made were using good linkages, pull-pull for rudder, and installing an MK bearing for elevator control.

The Sensation 1400 (and similar designs too) makes a wonderful inclimate weather training platform when the big ships are better left inside. Basically, that means my fingers don't freeze in the 15 seconds it takes to assemble it at the field during the winter freeze.

Best plane I've had so far was the Sensation. It will tumble like a full-size Cap on full throttle, fly knife-edge loops on a 50 engine and even hover using an 11x8 APC prop. (although you need a bigger elevator to hold it long). And on low rates it'll fly pattern just like my 90-planes do. Sensational.

Just aquired a Kyosho Sensation 40 second hand.

Has anyone got an instruction manual so I can get the recommended C of G and control throws set up as a baseline?? I am not very experienced so could do with some help!!! If anyone has got the manual on PDF (or would be willing to scan it??) that would be superb.

Thanks

Adrian
