Lark 70 motor
 

Just wondering if a Saito 100 is to much power for this model? i was thinking of a saito 91, as i have seen one fly quite well with this, however i also want a Saito 100 for some other models i plan on getting soon, and im not in a position to buy both motors just yet.

I have been flying this model for over a year, with an OS50SX. It hasnt got indefinate verticle by any strech, but it's taught me more about aircraft control than anything else. The Saito 4 strokes would be ballistic, but even with the 50SX I had to add weight to the tail. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for overpowered aircraft. This is the only plane I own with less than about 1.5/1 power to weight.

No reason not to go with the 100. The 91 weighs .2 oz. more and has less power. It looks like you already have the servos mounted and are ready for the motor, so suggesting that you mount the servos in the tail, for balance, is a moot point.

Remember where the throttle stick is;).

Ive seen one with a YS 63 and and a TT 61 2s and they have limited vertical.Plus he had to ad tail weight so i think the 100 would be great.Lots of fun factor. :D

Thanks for your thoughts, i think i will give it a go! great info on the weight too moving the servos to the back sounds like a good idea so im going to start playing around with that this weekend also.

G day i have just completed my lark with magnum 70 hatori header and home made muffler. i am just curious as to you guys having to add weight to the tail, my magnum weighs more than an os50!
also i had to put my rx batt just behind tank under landing gear mount to get the ballance right .
i love the way it flies , my LHS suggested having 5 to 6 mm of up aileron (reflex i think) switched in for landing to help give it a nose up attitude to help slow it down. which works very well.my auw is 3200g

By the looks of it you have taken alot of weight off the front by using a header and pipe under the plane thats why you need weight up the front.
