YS venturis
Hi,
What are the venturis for that the Japs are using on their 160's? A friend of mine said it makes them more fuel efficient plus you get more power. Also, they seem to come in 3 different internal diameters, 8, 9 and 10mm. Anybody know what one they are using? I was told the 9mm one suits the 160 best. Cheers, Angus |
RE: YS venturis
And what about the 140DZ, is it 9mm or which one is the best? I heard 8mm would be great.. I'd like to get the fuel consumption down a bit and more power doesn't hurt. Where can I find one of these? |

Are you talking about the funnel that are available at hobbynet-jp.com?
They are available 8, 8.5, 9, 10 mm. I remember seeing a different one (much taller than these) somewhere in Japanese website, but I can not remember where. I think they posted 100 rpm gain. Here are some pictures. |
RE: YS venturis
Those look an awful lot the velocity stacks I used to use when I was into drag racing.
They smooth out the airflow into the carb and speaking from experience on automotive engines they work. |
RE: YS venturis
I'll make a drawing for some of these if someone will make me a couple. :D

RE: YS venturis
I asked the dealer about the venturis and he told me it should not be used to increase power but to improve thrust curve in the mid range. I have always liked the response of my 140DZ but if it can get better why not. I have allways liked shiny polished aluminum parts especially small ones which are ment to do great things :D
140dz: 9mm or 10mm 160dz: 8mm 8,5mm or 9mm He told me the two engines have different type of 'needs' and that is why the sizes differ. |
RE: YS venturis
Interesting. Might get one myself just to try out :)
