First Pattern Plane??

Okay, so I just axed my 1/4 scale Extra over the weekend and I'm itching to put all of its gear into a new toy. A fellow club member who is hardcore pattern was teaching me some "exercises" and I started to get hooked...then catastrophe. So, I've now got this leftover saito 180 and a fist full of servos looking for a home...what should I get under 400 bucks maybe? :)

The Ultra-RC Icepoint has gotten some good reviews recently from some very knowledgeable pattern flyers....

Where can I get an Aresti III ARF? I had the hangar9 aresti 40...I'm sure it's no comparison but the thing was a lead sled...this is different I assume?

The Insight is cool looking, though it's a kit...anyone know where I can get one built?

Get hold of Bob Pastorello and get his feedback on the Arresti... he flew one last year. I think there were a few issues he had to correct on the plane, not sure how serious they were...

NO question - if you want an ARF, get the Ultra RC "Icepoint" - I have one (as yet unflown), but it has a sterling reputation, and was an exceptional construction quality.
*** You would be wise to pass on the Arresti III ***

Mark Hunt's "Insight" is ALSO an exceptional performer; he sells plans and cores (I think), if you want to BYO.

If money isn't a factor, the Impact seems to be a popular choice, along with the semi-available Brio from Piedmont.

YMMV - opinions expressed above are mine only.

It is a very good design. A straight one flies very well, and my first one was straight (enough). There have been wing tube failures, twisted fuselages and other difficult-to-correct issues in some of the later ones. Kondor Models states that the manufacturer has corrected these concerns as of the current stock.
