CAmodels Epsilon 120 for pattern?

Hi,

Epsilon looks like an Artistic design, but how does it perform with respect to pattern? Does anyone have any extensive pattern flying experience with it? I'm not a FAI pilot, I'm planning to play in the intermediate league with it.

Will a YS-140 FZ be ok or I should go for a larger motor?

Rgrds,

Nick

i think the 140 would be an overkill,a YS 110 would be perfect;)

I'm talking about Epsilon 120 not 90. YS-140 can not be overkill for the 120 as it comes 4.8-5.2 Kg according to the given specs.

Has anyone flown the model with the 140?

This plane is great. A friend of mine have it. He use the OS 1.60 and have unlimited vertical. Great plane for pattern.

Hi Nickolas:

I’m a FAI Pilot and I have two Eclipses with a WEBRA 160 ARR :D. I had an Epsilon 90, was a good plain, but not enough for what I was looking for .
After my visit to CAModel Factory in last July, I decided to prove the Epsilon 120. I did his maiden flight at the end of September and I can tell you that this model is fantastic ;). I installed an OS 160 FX with the standard muffler and a Perry Pump. I used Pull-Pull system for the tail links and digital servos for all the surfaces.
Actually I’m using it for two things: 1) Practice the P07 schema and 2) Just for fun. For F3A is perfect: Cheap, quiet, light and with an extraordinary performance. As Luizhinho said, it has unlimited vertical, even making opposite rolls during the climb. The knife is perfect and the speed in every condition is amazing. You can fly easily with only one click more than the stall point.

Only for the record, I did one little presentation in a local club and after two flights they ordered 5 planes to the factory. During the last Nationals here in Chile, my brother flew it for F3A and his performance was unbelievable. After this contest he ordered another too.

Cheers. You’ll love it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. If I purchase one I will get the ARF, what kind of hardware does it come with? I'm trying to estimate an overall cost for the plane.

Also does it have any space for a pipe under tha wing or I should use a standard muffler? Do you have any photos to share?

Nick

CA planes have zero hardware. Its nice bc you get to choose what you like, but in the long run I think it ends up costing you a little more bc the price of the kits equal the prices of other kits that do come with some hardware.

With these kinds of pattern kits, everyone has their own ideas of what to use or not use. I don't mind paying for my own hardware and I'm glad that the kit layouts let you pretty much do what you wish. Once I got used to the way these kits build, this is the only way I like to build.
