Electric Setup

Can anyone recommend a proven electric set up ( motor, prop, cells) for a typical 1.5m, 5llb pattern model - the sort of design that would, typically, be powered by a YS 63.

Is there a significant weight difference and can the performance ever be as good.

Sorry if this has been discussed before - if it has perhaps you could refer me to the relevent thread.

RE: Electric Setup

I have a Great Planes Venus with a Plettenberg 25-16, Aeronaut 15x10 and Polyquest SP 5S 4000 mAh, it gives 920 W. My Venus weigh 2.7 kilogram (6 pounds) and has wingspan on 1.4 m. Normally I am only using 80 % of the power then I am training on a F3A program. In windy condition I use full throttle to get higher speed.

My battery is 1 year old. Polyquest has new XP 3700 mAh, they are a better choice.

The motor is much lighter then a glow engine. I need to put half of the battery pack front of the firewall to get the GC right. The motor weights 250 g (9 oz) and battery 440 g (16 oz).

Best regards,
Kristian

RE: Electric Setup

Thanks Kristian - that's the sort of information I wanted.

Just after I posted my request I noticed there is now a seperate board for electric aerobatics.

Sorry - it should have been posted there.
