Plane recommendations
Maybe I am an artifact, I don't know! I have been looking to get back into pattern flying, but I am having somewhat of a problem finding what I am looking for.(my last pattern plane was a Vertigo 2, I don't remember who kitted it) I am NOT into 3D squirrley airplanes.... I am looking for a 60 sized real pattern plane.(F3A)
I remember graceful lines, swept leading edge wings, Foam wings, Retracts ETC.... Is there any hope? I really like the clean lines of a (real) pattern plane, with the gear up and smooth as glass performance. I have found a couple of crossover planes (3D / F3A) but control surfaces are WAY to large and they have fixed gear attached to the Fuselage. My preferences are: 60 engine size (2 stroke)(maybe 100 4 stroke) swept wings (graceful)[sm=thumbup.gif] retractable gear Any Suggestions? Thanks.... CC |

RE: Plane recommendations
The Dunphee's are still producing kits at PAC.
Go to NSRCA.org, then to suppliers and you will find most of the pattern kit producers in the US. ed |

CC,
If you're looking for the "classic" pattern planes of the 80's and early 90's, check out www.precisionaerocomposite.com (click on "our planes" tab). Hope you find what you're looking for! |
RE: Plane recommendations
very nice... but has stationary gear. It seems to be the current trend

RE: Plane recommendations
Thanks guys! PAC looks like the place to start. Hard to tell in some of their pictures, but looks like some may have retracts. I will give them a call tomorrow and see.

One of the better cross-over airplanes is the Fantasy. These can be ordered thru Pattern Proz or Aeroworks.

Heres something I would highly recomend...
Dave Smith Models here in the UK, take a look at the website and im sure theres something there to catch your eye. Ive got 2 of his models a Aerostar fitted with OS61RF Hanno Special and a Smart Move '40' fitted with OS46SF pumped. They both fly fantasticaly well and I used my Aerostar in comps here last year (its my favourite!!) there very good value for money. http://www.davesmithmodels.com/ |
