Prestige, any interest
Have recieved my new sled. It is built in Poland and is the successor to the Vivat.
Is there any interest in the building process, picts and description? I don't think MAP will be able to get a great number of them. If there is interest I'll fire up the digital camara and let everyone know how it goes. Ed |

Please accept my appology for my garage condition.
Here are some picts of the fuse, as it came out of the box with the exception of screwing to allen head bolts to the landing gear (all it requires) This thing is super light, prepainted with a much better seam line than the other prepainted planes I've seen, with firewall, pipe tunnel and fuse floor, rudder post all presinstalled. The gear plate is different from anything I have seen, but am assured by the other Vivat fliers, it is extremely strong, again preinstalled. All I had to do was push the gear in the slot and tighten 1 bolt apiece. The stab and wing tube holes are already there. Will try to get a scale but I believe this is hands down, the lightest fuse I have ever picked up, and it is mostly built already. I will probably try to use vinyl on the flying surfaces, and paint the fuse/rudder. The canopy is already a metallic blue. The chin cowl has the holes already made for mounting, very simple to get some blind nuts and holding in place, drill the fuse. More to come as I get in the mood to work on it. Have placed my Central Hobbies order so am waiting on the brown truck to arrive. Ed |

Finally got the urge to get started building. Here are some picts.
Got the 140Dz mounted using a Hyde Mount. The firewall comes installed and had dreaded this step. It was tremendously easier than I had imagined. I hung the fuse from my garage door, holding the fuse vertical. Measured from the firewall to the front of the fuse. Drilled the motor mount to allow for a 1/8" spacing for the spinner back plate. As the plane was hanging vertical, I assembled the motor to the mount while in the fuse. Because gravity is taken out of the equation, I could move the entire mount/motor assembly, keeping the backplate of the mount flush on the firewall, till I achieved a center position of the thrust washer and spinner backplate. I used a couple drops of CA to hold the mount in place and carefully removed the engine. Taking the fuse down, I could then drill the firewall for the 4 bolts/blind nuts. All in all this took less than 30 minutes. |

The wheel pants have a sleeve that goes over the gear. This makes the installation of the pants very easy, but added another problem. I tried the thinnest wheels I could find 11/16" and they were too wide. I finally took some model car wheels and cut them up, adding plenty of CA to the foam Time will tell if this will work. No one had any ideas on where to find 1/2" wheels. The axel is what holds the pants on, in addition to the sleeve.

The chin cowl was a breeze to install. 3 bevelled holes for 4:40 bolts are already built in. Simply had to set the chin cowl in place and drill through the existing holes, install blind nuts and it was done. This is by far the easiest chin cowl install I have ever done. Not sure yet if I will need to open the side for the header. Will open the glow driver hole a little more and make more round. Will probably add one cooling cutout towards rear of cowl. Tried to add a little character with the cheek and cowl cutouts. time will tell. The canopy and cowl are made a little differently than the rest of the plane. More rigid and firm.

Ed,
Good to see you back working on the new bird. I have only had mine out once since Dallas, too much screwing around with my Yak. Jeff |

RE: Prestige, any interest
Hi
How made are wings and stab, foam with balsa sheet or composite ? which weight is one wing ? tahnks |
RE: Prestige, any interest
Hey Papaone.
I purchased mine through MAP here in the US. I am not really sure who the manufacturer is, but do know it is made in Poland. The fuse is a balsa sandwich, painted in the mold and appears to me to be very very similar to the construction of the Russian Angel' Shadow. The cost here in the US was $1850, when MAP only had 2 on order. The wings and stabs are of the same construction. I don't have a gram scale so don't know the exact weight, however, I can tell you extremely light. Will post some picts of the wings/stabs interior and servo mount shortly. Chris' e-mail at MAP is [email protected] He may be able to answer more of your questions than I can. Ed |
RE: Prestige, any interest
Hi Divesplat
Thanks for your answer. Manufacturer is WISTMODEL in Poland. I sent a mail to know their conditions. 1850 ยง indicates me an idea of the price. Claude |

I have a friend in Wisconson that has a brand new one that is setup to take a Hacker. It comes with a Budd electric mount. I don't know what he wants for it but I understand that he would like to sell it. If anyone has interest I could forward the info to you. Mike

Papaone, here are some picts of the wing. One has the servo out, and it came this way. The other pict shows the servo installed. The last one shows how the gap is sealed. There is a rounded piece of carbon fiber that keeps the gap sealed. The ends are capped so don't know if it will make the aileron screech other composite designs are making.
I also glued the stab tube in, so am making progress. The one mentioned for sale is same as this one, just different colors and set up for electric. ed |

Hi Divesplast
Thanks for your pictures Regards |
RE: Prestige, any interest
Finally weighed one of the wing panels.
14.9oz with the servo installed. Need to add the control horn assembly on the aileron but that is all. Also, didn't mention earlier, the attachment holes in the root rib are already placed and tapped for a 10/32 bolt. The amount of prefabrication is very nice, and unexpected. Did get the stabs mounted with adjusters and in process of mounting the wings and adjusters. ed |

RE: Prestige, any interest
Hi Divesplat
Sorry to ask you many questions but i'm very interested by this plane and pattern F3A is my passion. Becaus e I would compare to Oxalys I have please could you tell me somes dimensions : dimension of wings at the root and at the end thickness of edge of wing ? height of fuselage at level canopy, in front of tail and at level motor ? Diameter of spinner ? Thanks very much |
RE: Prestige, any interest
Hey Papaone.
The wings were weighed without any additional paint or vinyl. I will paint the wingtips and bottom of the wing, then use Vinyl for the pink/purple/white and black. Also got the control horns in today. Once I get the wings and stabs finished, as well as the total plane, will let you know the specific weight. I'm at work right now but will try to get the dimensions for you in the next couple of days. I'm really excited and hope to get her in the air before April 15 (or so) ed |
RE: Prestige, any interest
I would have made money on your colors if someone would have bet me!!!
Ed, hope to see you at a few more contests this year!! thanks for sharing your contruction with us. I am amazed at your wing weight, mine was 14.5 oz foam core with servos ready to fly. Chuck Hochhalter |

I think now you spend a lot of time to build Prestige, very nice job ! sorry to disturb you. I have anothers questions about engine support; With Yamada engine which kind of flex mount do you use ? Hyde Mount, Wistmodel mount or other ? Who fixed frame of engine support in the fuselage ? Wistmodel or you ? regards |
