This photo shows the F3A wide... I split them and got about 1.5" wider. Plenty of prop clearence. Thats a 17" APC there.
That fuse is about 6" wide.

Use the Bolly Gear
 

The Bolly F3A Wide gear seem to be the best....

The wide is not for a wider fuse but rather is a wider stance...They also set a little higher maybe 1/2-3/4" higher than the F3A Large gear....The std F3A gear I believe are the 60 sized landing gear. The wide gear gives a good stance and you don't end up with the floaty side to side movement of a narrower gear that might on a hard turn tip and catch a wing tip. They do weigh a little more but I think its worth it....On anything at 10lbs or over...Below 10lbs I think the F3A large gear are good......Get the Bolly wheel pants too they make a CF version or a glass and carbon version. The pants have a indented slot that fits the Bolly Struts makes for a neat and clean install......The Bolly 2000 gear are also good. They were designed around the Desafio 2000 designed by Quique they look like a Sukoi landing gear and are not swept back but come straight out and are curved...Again they look sexy and work very well. In fact they take a tremendous amount of abuse. The problem is the planes landing gear plate won't take as much so be aware a fixed gear plane don't belong landing in the weeds....Its on the runway in a nice way or you will be fixing it!


They are easily fit to any fuse width as you cut them in half and make 2 struts....This is pretty common. On some planes that the belly or cowl will come off and access the gear its easy.....But some models like the Smaragd you just cut a slit in the side of the fuse and slide each strut or leg into the slot and bolt in place.....This makes for a really neat and clean install but takes more time to build than the ones that have easy access.

I feel the ZN gear looks the best among the present look, with a smaller and sexier wheel pants. But the price alone ain't cheap... Check www.znline.com for their accessories

Actually - 3/16" dia wire struts are lighter - much les expensive and far less likelily to cause any internal damage- I came up with a X shaped former , which I fit into the fuselage--then each gear leg straps into a 90 degree angled slot. (up each botom leg of the x then turns to the upper leg.).
I know - it isn't cool - but it sure works better than the CF stuff- --and did I say lighter?

BTW... this setup with some small abs wheel pants I had laying around and Liteflite wheels and 6/6-32 mounting bolts weights 7.9 oz.

This is the Bolly F3A wide.

Your right Troy this set has a wider stance and is about 1" taller then the std F3A set. Plenty of prop clearance.

A word of caution...
 

I don't know if this has happened to anybody running the Bolly gear, but right before I bought my Hydeout from a friend of mine, he was taking off and the gear leg broke about 3/4 of the way down from the fuse and kinda ruined his day. There wasn't any damage to the plane with the exception of the gear leg but if he was flying off of asphalt, that might have been a little bit different. My theory is that maybe he hit a small pothole or something in the runway (we fly off of Warren Thomas' farm - his runway isn't bad at all for those of you that know him) and that twisted the gear leg and it sheared in a weak spot. Don't know how relevant this is, but I got two new gear legs with the deal, and I haven't had any problems since.

Do a search for Moose Carbon Fiber. Looks like a one man show out in Oregon. Nice looking stuff lighter and cheaper than Bolly. Slow to recieve my order so far. Will give more info when they are in my hand.

thanks for the replies, one other pattern need, who makes a flat rectangular fuel tank or is there such, need something like 16oz-18oz, to fit between the wing and canopy, or its going to have to be a black canopy to conceal the tank

Du-Bro makes a flat-ish rectangular fuel tank. Also, Tettra I believe makes something like that. Check Central Hobbies out, they carry a bunch of them.

Also, the link for the Moose landing gear is http://moosecarbonfiber.tripod.com/ . They don't have a great selection right now, but I hope that they extend their product line. They sure do look nice.

Moose gear came on Saturday. Very pretty three ounces for the Cap gear. They even made it narrower for me so it will fit my Focus. Seem pretty stiff can't wait 'till the snow melts so I can try them.
