YS 140/160DZ Header
I am sure this has been covered, but whats the latest greatest headers for the DZ engines? I saw the NMP headers, how are these holding up? what else? Its for a Impact and YS.

RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
NMP is a good header, that's what I am using on my Impact with the 160 DZ, it has a larger opening than the old style header. However, be sure to get the header brace for support.

RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
I've been having really good luck so far with the NMP on my 1.60's.

RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
ok thanks, thats probably the route I will go. Riot, which pipe are you running in your impact?

RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
I've been using the Johnson pipe for a long time. I know its a bit on the heavy side, but, it has a fairly large diameter opening. In addition, you just can't beat the price.

RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
The Hatori 822 header works great withe the 821 pipe. Best I've ever used and I' tried almost everything. Haven't tried the NMP header though by a friend of mine has and it broke. Maybe he didn't mount is correctly. I know its a great product. I am just saying that the Hatori one is great too.

RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
I use a Hatori 796 cooling header with a world models pipe and header soft mount on my 140DZ. Works great!

RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
my nmp header broke after about 30 flights installed a support with the new one

RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
Gary,
You do need the header brace, plus I would recommand a soft mount on the middle part of the teflon connector. My NMP had over 150 flights without any problem Adrian |
RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
The Asano is very good and very expensive!
built in mount that bolts to the head of the DZ here... http://www.probuild-uk.co.uk/product...20&subCatID=77 |
RE: YS 140/160DZ Header
Im using the NMP header w/brace, a CF pipe from Central Hobbies and a 15x11 4B prop. This is a really impressive setup. Really really powerful, quiet and has held up exceptionally well so far. I would guess I have about 50-60 flights on the plane thus far. I took Troy Neumanns advice and used the NMP header washers and tightened up everything with the engine hot. This made all of the difference in the world. Before I did this the vibration from the 1.60DZ would knock the header loose from the engine every 2-3 flights. After I got the washers and did the hot trick, that was it.. I still check it for tightness every few flights and I have had to snug it up a couple of times but not but about every 10-15 flights or so. A really low idle on the ground produces a HARD lope, I think that is what loosens the header. I have learned to keep the idle up just enough to smooth it out on the ground then ease my idle slider down once Im in the air.
