3 or 4 blade props

Hi all,

I am considering getting a multi blade prop for my 160DZ, in an effort to reduce the static noise of the plane (we are at a VERY noise sensitive site and passing a stringent ground noise test is mandatory for me to fly at all!!!!!).

Does anyone have any experiences of these props on this engine, or on any engine for pattern? Any tach readings etc that people can let me have? Do these props, even cut down the noise as seen by a meter or is this a blind alley??

Any thoughts gratefully received!

thanks,

James

I'm very happy with my 15x 13w 3 blades on my 160 DZ, I like it better than the 15x11 4 blades. About 8,100 to 8,200 on the ground, and very quitet in the air. However, you struggle a bit on a windy day.

Try one of Dave Lockharts 15 3/4 X 10 (repitched from a 13). WOW what a prop, TONS of power even on a windy day. Swings about 8600 on the ground.
