Y Harness for pattern?

Quick question. I am finishing my pseudo pattern plane (dream 110) and was wondering if using a y-harness for the aileron servos is a no-no in the world of pattern. I am using futaba digis. I won't be competing, if it matters. thanks.

it will work ok, but most computer radios you can mix 2 channels together so you dont need a Y harness

I don't see why not, someone else may know better then me. Only thing I can think of is you will have to achieve ail differential the old school way, mechanically.

If you use a Y harness, you will not be able to adjust ATV individually with your radio

Yes, you may use a Y harness but it is not the optimum way to do things. As stated by the others, you will have a lot of mechanical work to do to set up the plane right (getting the correct differential, the same throws each side, etc). And each time you have to do a minor adjustment, you will have to do it mechanically. In other words, as long as your radio has a flaperon functio, there is no reason to use a y harness. What radio do you have?

I have a 9CAP. I just hate having to plug two servo plugs into the RX every time I put the wing on or off. Or should I just use two 6" extensions, plug those into the RX and leave those there all the time? then i'll just connect the plugs from the wing to the extensions.

I use the extentions out of the reciever. just plug into extentions and don't mess with the reciever connections.

Suggest that you label the extensions from the rx right and left.

I use extensions and just mark the channel one extension and the servo lead from the right wing with white tape. Then I just plug both wires with tape together and both without tape. Simple, easy and works every time.

I got my extensions from Electro Dynamics in different colors. hook up the same colors and that way it's a no brainer. Of course with my small brain it's needed.

I just put a knot in both right aileron wires. . . of course this also works for the left. . . but not both. . .
