2006 US National Championship

Ok, got my confirmation, so I'll be there in advanced. My last contest in advanced; that's the plan, It could change, but who knows. Depends on a lot of things. Mainly time, but I'm severely pointed out and will be an official masters wannabe next season for sure.

So who's going? I hope you didn't wait because the fees are now doubled (that sucks but it's the rules).

So are you going, what class are you flying? I hope to see you all there! If you've never been, you owe it to yourself to go. I wonder how gas prices and the team selection being moved to next year will affect attendance?

Wow, 25 in intermediate??? If that many actually show up and fly, that would be really cool [8D] Ya know, it's nice to see intermediate (and sportsman for that matter) growing in numbers again. Hey we must be doing something right!?

Jason, the Nats is that thing you won a couple years ago, thus starting this massive shift towards electric pattern planes. It's all your fault!!!! I'm wondering when you're going to come in with a diesel triplane and really freak everyone out......I dare you!

I hate waiting on glue to dry. Dang, I should be doing something.....

I will be there trying to fight through the pack in Masters! Should be a good contention of the NorthEast Syndicate making the trip.
Have almost 50 flights on Brio #2 and we are starting to make friends. Can't wait to pick up my Black Magic kit!

I'll be making my first trip out...flying Advanced.

Just getting acquainted with my new Brio, five flights so far (but I have my trusty Patriot as well.) Work has already been notified that I will be “unavailable” after lunch between now and July 14th if the sun is shinning![8D]

Yeah, I wish I could make it, me and Garrett had a great time last year. He still talks about the guy paying him to take his shift for transmitter impound. I'm going thru upgrade training at work and am not scheduled to finish until the later part of July. Perhaps I'll get an Indianapolis layover and can come up and visit.

I'll be luckyto get to one contest this year. . . hopefully next year will be better.

I'll be there in Intermediate. This is my first year, so I'm very excited. I am coming up with a friend of mine and another Intermediate flyer Blaire Page, with this being his first Nats as well. I know my buddy Joey Hayes (FAI) will be there, however I'm not positive if he's flying, I know he will be up there helping Quique.

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone up there. :D

I'll be there flying in Advanced.

Mike, I also plan on moving up to Masters after NATS, it's just too bad for us that we "happened" to have our last year in Advanced at the same time as "The Wonder Boy" (aka Brett). Sort of puts off any chance of being national champion for several years!

Brett's been whooping my tail all year, but I'm super glad he's around as it's upped the bar for all of us in Advanced.

Scott is no slouch either. He got some pretty stratospheric scores last year...and that was LAST year.....it'll be fun watching him and Brett go at it.

As for chances of winning the Nats and being our last advanced contest....well, it comes down to expectation really. I "expect" do do better than I did last year, regardless of placing (not shaking would be a start) and be somewhat competetive and have fun. Winning the Nats is not on my list of expectations. It takes a little more than good flying to win 1st place. If I make the top 10, it's been a good contest for me. If I come home with a Nats trophy, ANY Nats trophy, it's been a GREAT contest. Winning is a dream.

Some day I want to win the Nats if I can. Think of all the top flyers....GREAT flyers we know of that have never won the Nationals. Yet........it's like the ultimate carrot on the end of a stick for us. We chase it relentlessly, it drives us to do better, it makes it fun and challenging. And the reason we're still here is that we're realistic. This may or may not be the year, but there's always next year...and the year after...and the year after.....and along the way, we make friends, learn, get better, have fun, get better, have more fun, make more friends, learn more....man I love this game [8D]

And that being said, I'm gonna win advanced and show those kids how it's done. *ahem* You may all kneel and kiss the ring now. ROFLMAO

On another subject, have you guys heard about the new prize? The Concours de elegance (SP?) It's a prize for the plane itself; best of show, craftsmanship, design, finish, etc. MAN if I had known about that, I would have spent another month or 3 finishing my Black Magics!!!!! THAT'S one I could seriously get into and go for it. However, Bryan Hebert will have his new Shinden, and he is argueably the master. I got a lot of my inspiration from him. Well, there's a few weeks left, my planes are only 9 1/2 lbs, I'm sure a little more airbrushing and a few ounces of clear wouldn't hurt....LOL Ok, well NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!

-Mike
