help with jett muffler on Epsilon

I finished my Epsilon 90 a few months back and have love the way it flies. The only problem has been the muffler with my ST90 coming loose and leaking oil everywhere. So I decided to gett a Jett muffler to boost performance and solve my muffler problems.

The only problem I am having now is that the muffler is big and bc of the length it comes out right where the landing gear is.

I know a lot of you guys run your muffler internally, what do you do with the landing gear?

The first pic shows how the landing gear is setup (and how my ST slimed everything). The second shows where the muffler comes through and the third shows about how far back the muffler goes. I will have to make some sort of cutout in the belly pan on the wing as well.

Any input will be great. Its going to be more work than I originally thought but I think the extra power is going to be worth it in the long run.

Here is the best idea I can come up with. I should be able to trim the landing gear on the line marked in the pic. I can then put the 3rd screw farther in where I have it marked.

With this piece cut out on both sides the muffler can pass between them.

Is my landing gear going to be strong enough if I have to cut off this piece?

Gringo,

I'm struggling with the idea of mounting my landing gear too. Did you use the stock gear or a replacement? I'm bought the B.J. vented 60-80 sized gear. (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCFR7&P=7)

I am not going to mount mine thru the slots in the side of the fuselage. I'll ply over the box where your screws come out and mount the gear completely externally. I'm thinking of splitting the gear and using 2 nylon bolts on each side, going into pine blocks underneath for a tear away gear. This gear is about 1/2" short on each side, maybe slightly less than that. I can extend it if I cut it in two. It will look much better than the heavy gear that came with the kit.

It looks like you could tap another blind nut on each side without too much problem.

did you come up with a viable landing gear solution ?
