Does anyone know where I can get an CA models Epsilon 60/90 airplane in the United States? Aeroworks is out of stock. It sounds like they will not be ordering anymore.

Why do you say that it sounds like they won't be ordering any more CA Models kits? Did they say that when you spoke to them?

Yes, When I spoke with Aeroworks on the phone, Aeroworks told me they didn't know if they were going to continue to carry the CA line. and if they were going to continue, a restocking order would not be any time soon. But, I contacted CA directly ([link=http://www.camodel.com.ar]camodel.com.ar[/link]) they will ship to the U.S. for about the same price Aeroworks is advertising.

The same price Shipped to You or you have to pay the shipping from Argentina to USA and Custom cost ?

The kit is $249 including shipping via Fed Ex. The ARF is $479 including shipping via UPS. Aeroworks advertises $219.95 plus shipping for the kit and $448.95 plus shipping for the ARF. I'm guessing Aeroworks is going to charge ABOUT $30 for shipping, so that makes them ABOUT the same price.

I ordered my first kit, the Widebody 40, directly from CA Models before they had a U.S. distributor. I called a number in Miami that rolled over to Argentina. The order went fine and the kit arrived in about a week. Aeroworks charges a lot to ship. I think I paid $20 for my Epsilon and $15 for a replacement canopy in a small box. They had to make a profit on the canopy. Those and another WB 40 kit were shipped regular ground, so it took about 7 days to arrive. The charges seemed excessive to me.

The good thing about calling CA Models direct is that you sometimes speak with Marcelo Columbo. Very nice guy. My first kit was missing some balsa and I called the factory. They were upset that anything was missing. In two days I had a box shipped express from Argentina with what I was missing. That must have cost a lot of money.

I'm trying to remember the place in Colorado that sells pattern stuff. The owner is Rocco and a nice guy. I spoke to him on the phone and he spent a lot of time talking pattern. I think they are in Boulder. Anyone know who I'm talking about? I know that I should remember and I don't have a bookmark of their site. Sheesh. Anyway, they wanted the distributorship and Aeroworks got it instead.

I believe Rocco is at Aeroworks. I ordered my Epsilon 120 from him. They were backordered on the 90 so he offered me a discount if I would take a 120. HoooBoy! I haven't started the build yet. It is a big plane but everyone thinks highly of it.

I also wrote Marcelo at CA and he is very nice and helpful. He also gets in on the threads once in awhile too.

I'm sorry to hear that Aeroworks is not going to carry CA models.

macdanman, you could be right and I'm confusing two places. I actually ordered the 40 sized Epsilon but they sent the 60 instead and then forgot to send the 40 again. I ended up keeping the 60 and am enjoying building it now. Glad I didn't get the 40. Everyone seems to like the 60 too from what I read here. I have a new Saito 125 for it.

Marcelo has responded a lot to things I've asked. He is alway very friendly and prompt.

By the way, I heard from a builder in Brazil on the 60 sized Widebodys. They had 6 at their club and he shortened his ailerons and elevators to make them smoother pattern planes. They didn't run the control surfaces to the tips. I'm doing the same thing on mine. The Epsilon is a refinement of the Widebody according to Marcelo.

I have heard about shortening the ailerons before. I believe one person said 7 inches from the fuse, and you are saying something similar. And this is to make the plane smoother - less responsive? So how many inches from the tips to start the aileron and about how long for the aileron? The 120 has a 75.5" wingspan. What do you think?

Each wing is 31". I left 2 1/2 inches of wing tip for each aileron, so they were shortened by that much. I didn't shorten the inboard section. I hope this leaves enough tip area for stability. I did the same thing on the elevators. I left the rudder stock.

I'm sure that the big surfaces will make the plane responsive enough. From what I've read, it makes the plane fly smoother and groove smoother. I could see how touchy the Widebody 40 was. I had a lot of expo for softer responses around the center. The plane would go quickly when it went and I'm hoping for a larger zone of smooth reactions. Thee is still a lot of aileron and elevator there for quick responses....I think.
