Please educate me more on Pattern Flying
Hello everyone
I am just getting my feet into pattern flying, and although I tried to fish for lots of information on the net, I still have some questions. How many levels of competition is there? only 4? Does a championship require a pilot to fly all levels, or is there a championship for each level? Where can I find the program for each level, and does it really change every year? Can I find a video or some graphical illustrations to learn the sequence of manoeuvers? Since I just want to practice correct pattern flying, and I've never seen a competition and I am far from joining one, how shall I setup the field? What is usually required for a competition? I hope you have time to answer all my questions. Thank you Fadi |

Fadi,
I recommend you to read the information available at www.nsrca.org This will be very good start for you. Look for the information in regard your nsrca district and try to contact the VP. I believe that will be a good idea that you try to practice with other pattern pilots. Good luck, Vicente "Vince" Bortone |

Umm Vince, he's in the Gulf, and not LA to FL.
Fadi, have a look at the competitions on the FAI web page http://events.fai.org/aeromodelling/calendar.asp?id=3 |

Thank you Fadi If you will go to the NSRCA District 7 website ( www.nsrca.org/d7 ) and go to the bottom of the first page, there are some videos of actual flights as well as videos from simulators showing various maneuvers and examples of what to do as well as what not to do. Our webmaster, Scott Covey, has spent a lot of time putting those together to help people see what a correct and incorrect maneuver looks like in the air. Good luck Don Atwood |

AH ok :D
Thanks for the videos' link, I will have a look. I am sure it will be helpful! well, yes I am an expatriate in the Gulf... Will check the FAI, thanks again. |
RE: Please educate me more on Pattern Flying
Somewhere in FAI documents, there are rules for F3A (the international class). The sequence that they show is IMPOSSIBLE for someone who is just starting out but otherwise it may be worth reading. There are easier classes (and sequences) but that is a national or regional matter.
These would apply to my location 1st one is not in English but there is a sketch of the sequence. All out F3A ships are frowned upon, here, because it is a national beginner class: http://users.tkk.fi/~jkarppin/f3a/ta...tys/sport.html This is partly in English, a regional intermediate/advanced class sequence: http://users.tkk.fi/~jkarppin/f3a/ta...ys/nordic.html |
