first pattern plane
hi guys
i got a os 120 with pump lying around i want to give it a home since its a great motor i want a pattern and maybe u could point some out for me ... i really dont know what to chose |
RE: first pattern plane
a 90 sized plane such as the Infinity, or the excelleron arf. if you want to build, look towards ca models, they have some great kits.
Good luck, Chuck remember, the power to weight ratio of the 120 surpass even pumped is not that great so build or think LIGHT!! |
RE: first pattern plane
Take a look at he Venus II. Very solid model, perfect for the OS 1.20

RE: first pattern plane
I agree with NJrcflyer2 I would look at the venus 2 don't know for sure if a 120 would work on it, but I have a venus 40 and it is a wonderfull flying airpland, and looks is outstanding. Take a look Towerhobbies has them!

RE: first pattern plane
The Venus is excellent.
I also have the following that we used as "Beginnner" Pattern planes and both were pretty good for an introduction to Pattern. I still fly them regularly as practice planes. A CMPro Swallow with a Saito 1.25 (Flew OK with the 1.20 as well). A World Models "Groovy" which flies OK with a Saito 1.20 I notice you are in Russia, so it will very much depend on what is available. |
RE: first pattern plane
What about a Hangar 9 Showtime 90?
|
RE: first pattern plane
The Showtime is a good choice too. I've got one, I like it. The Venus II seems to lock better and presents a bit better too. Basically I think it is easier to see what it's doing than the Showtime, but that could just be me.

RE: first pattern plane
The Venus is almost identical to the Excelleron, great plane. Still, you are down on power to weight of the 4 stroke. if you could afford a 1.20 ax, you would be heading in the right direction.
