OS120AX & Venus II setup question...
 

Posing this question on behalf of my Dad, who's assembling a GP Venus II and an OS120AX...
Need some recommendations on fuel (nitro % and oil %), a suitable range of props for pattern work and also an isolation engine mount that won't break the bank...
Any other tips on C.G., throws, construction hiccups, etc. welcomed as well....

APC 16X8 and 15 to 20% nitro fuel, balance as per instructions. I use Powermaster Sport Fuel (1/3 of oil is castor). Hard mounted engine. There is only one soft mount to use for this plane and that would be the Hyde Mount.

No problems after about 3 dozen flights. Of course it is going to be noisier than a soft mounted setup.

I've been flying the same setup for a few weeks. I hoped to get by with 16xt6 APC, since I had a few on hand, but it allowed the 120 to rev too high (12,00).
The 16x8 is about right at 8,800 at an altitud of 5,500 ft.

just got mine today. venus 2 w/120ax. covering sucks way too loose. anyone get all the wrinkles out? i can't see it getting much better.
and i was wondering if someone could post some pics of the 120ax mounted with and without the cowl.

I used the template for the OS91fx that came with the instructions. Then spread about a little bit. Works fine.

how much muffler hangs out the bottom?

just wondering where to put cg? i have read that everyone has to move it back and i was going to set it up so that i don't have to change anything other than battery position. has anyone found the sweet spot?
