Biplane Advanture
 

Here is my bipe. Advanture.It is parpare for Oaxi cup next month and Asian cup 2008 in Taiwan.
I use YS 170DZ.With apc 17*13 and Cusmo 20% fuel
I get all the accosseries from Naruke Hobby and all the Data From Designer Naruke Directly.
In original I were test fly today!
But after install the plane and take picture it started raining........
So I only runing my 170 for about 10 minute!!!

I will test it tomorrow!!!Than write some report here!!

Fantastic airplane. You're very lucky.
Shame about the rain on your test flight day. That normally happens here too!
I would guess it's going to fly like a dream.
It certainly looks like one!

I am looking forward to your flight reports. I fly an Xtreme Composite Astral XX but have already ordered an Oxai Aries. Hope to get it by November or December.

Finally test yesterday!!and have 5 flight today!!!!The feeling was good,But not better than my E-Xtremely Astral XX.....
The bipe can fly very slow but if have cross wind it is difficult to control!!!
The thrrow control become very important for this plane!!!!!!!!!
I use DZ 170 for this plane the engin was suer powerful......perfect combine

Really neat model. I enjoy flying mine. It performs the Finals sequences very very well.

Not as good in a cross wind as the Astral XXc but in calm air its pretty awesome.

I have about 150-160 flights on mine. Its a cool Plane.

guys,
did you have to remove some material from the plate where the engine sits,as the ys mount ring at the rear of the mount hits the carbon plate....i guess just adjust to suit!!, as any one got any close up pics of the engine installation please...

The plane looks as though it is a regular monoplane that has a top wing attatched to the plane to make it a Bi-plane pattern?
Is this the case?
This is not the Euphoria that qq was involved with is it?
Where do you get this plane?

They are distributed through OXai Models USA and Sam Johnson. They can be purchased direct or through Central Hobbies same pricing. I know there is one Adventure Bipe in Stock or at least there was.

I have mine and I love flying it. Its a really neat model and flies well.

They are a little expensive but to have a model this size and be well under the weight limit is amazing. The plane is fully painted. Its a wood model and not painted in the mold type of thing. Weight without fuel is 10.5 lbs.

As of now I'm the only one in the USA to have one flying.

are you running ys 160 or 170???.....have you tried both engines in this air frame??.

The first 100 flights or so were with the 160DZ.

Now it has a 170.

This is one application where the 170 is really better. The 160 in the bipe is good power but its not like flying a mono-plane....The extra drag means it benefits from the 170.

Yes the beams we a little tight....and the rear holes for the mount spacers were a little close together, I was able to use a dremel on the beams and just took a little bit off the inside edge to allow the engine to rotate, and the adjustability on the rear spacers was OK. It would have been better to move the blind nuts in the beams for the spacers, but it worked the way it was built. The only chnage I made was to grind a little off the beams on each side.

The other thing is the 170 has a little beefier case too even though the mounting lug holes are the same, the case is a little wider. Its not a major operation just a little fine tuning....I sealed the wood beams with some thin CA glue after I removed the material. It just needs a little angle on the top corner and it will clear everything.

Hi Justin,

The Adventure is a Naruke design and it was made to his specifications by Oxai. It may be a modified monoplane but I doubt it. I think it is an upgrade of a previous biplane that Naruke designed. Similar to the way he upgraded his Astrals over the years.

September of 2006 QQ called me and asked about having airplanes made for him by Oxai for the 2007 Worlds. We set it up with the factory and had QQ worked directly with them. The Euphoria is the outcome. It is QQ's design and Oxai's execution.

Richard at YS Parts and Service spoke with QQ recently and he said that QQ was extremely happy with the professional way Oxai worked with him. Oxai delivered the models on time when they said the would, and they flew very well and he was able to trim all of them flying the same.

how would a ZDZ f3A engine work in this plane?
It weights less than a 26cc Evolution engine but is a 40cc rear muffler and carb..
all up weight is 2lbs 11oz, with ignition....
Wonderfull engine that I would like to try in a pattern plane..

I guess that engine would need a long and largish pipe tunnel. Something with a mid-wing would be more appropriate, otherwise have an ugly pipe hanging out under the fuse, below the (bottom) wing. [sm=52_52.gif]

Obviusly a gas engine has no place in the pattern contests! Competative on the National Level? Forget about it!

This is something that I have come to terms with...

I guess it is either a YS 170 or a Minter 170!

Nice plane though!

I guess I mean, "As of right now, there just isn't any aircraft offered right now that is designed to accommodate a gas engine"

Not an easy puzzle to put together. The plane has to be lighter than usual to accomodate the extra engine weight, while at the same time, be stronger in some areas to absorb and distribute the large, low frequency forces. Don't forget, an extra long pipe tunnel is required to squeeze the real power from the gassers.

Several success stories are out there, but I have yet to hear of a 2meter bipe gasser success.
