Piedmont Models

I was seriously considering buying a Focus II. I had a few questions, so I e-mailed Dave. No answer, then I called him - personal answering machine picks up. I then called Steve and the lady who answers the phone hangs up on me when I ask for him. Are these guys still in business? I don't think so.

Both the sport and II looked very nice for a guy getting back into pattern after 8 years. I just cannot get into 3D.

Any suggestions on a nice plane? I would like to stay away from fiberglass fuses.

Thanks

That's strange, thier website has been updated in the last couple weeks as last time I was on it don't remember seeing the dancing Santa.

If you want a wooden kit you can always look at Mike Hester's Black Magics.

Finally, got a very helpful e-mail from Dave. I get the feeling they are a small outfit and that there office is often not staffed. I was a bit concern they had closed the business. No question about the quality of the Focus.

Most pattern plane companies are just that. One man operations, or just a couple. usually out of a garage or basement etc. That's just the way it is, we're a niche market over here. We're making some progress, but we're certainly not Horizon or Hobbico by any means...

Dave and Steve will take good care of you. they can be tough to get a hold of...but they both also have other jobs. They stand behind their product, and the plane flies great.

Thanks for that input, it means a lot. I try and support the small guys because they do care more.

You may want to take a look at a new offering from Northeast Aerodynamics, the Aquila.

This is quite a lot of value in a very potent package.
