Hi folks,
a week ago I made maiden flight with my Angel S 50 in glow version. I made conversion by myself in combination with Saito Fa82 4T with flex pipe.

Features:
Battery: Eneloop 6V 2500mAh
Engine: Saito Fa82 4T
Prop: APC 13x8
Servos: 3x Futaba S3152 (elevator and ailerons), ruder Hitec HS5645MG and throttle Hitec HS-81.
Radio: JR X9303
Receiver: Spektrum AR7000
AUW with fuel (260ml): 2.910g (no need for lead, CG is on ~150mm from leading edge in my case and I am very satisfied with snap rolls and knife edges)
Fuel: Tornado 10% NM

Where is the best CG for F3A flying?

Pictures are below

edit: attachment limit is 12 pictures, so I just added here a few more and rest you can fing [link=http://rcfly4um.org/index.php?topic=7631.0]on my forum here[/link]

RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread

Hi,

Really nice conversion; neat and clean. I believe that Sebart sells a conversion kit for the Angel. If I remember correctly their conversion kit includes the material needed to plug the holes in the first bulkhead to keep the fuel and exhaust from entering the plane.

I have the same plane (electric) and it is a very sweet flying plane.

Good luck,

Teo

Teo, yes it is very nice pattern training plane and thanks for your reply..
I know for Sebart coversion kit, but when I was made order on Lindinger.at it wasn`t in stock. For now after 10 flights all is good.

regards,
Nikola

After 3-4 months and one IMAC competition, all I can say is FANTASTIC! This plane is awesome for precise flying and can be very hard concurent for bigger plane like are 100cc planes.
On this competition, the wind that day was very unfavorable about 4-5m/s and with 2.9kg this plane is very, very good!
All at all, I win 3rd place that day and I am satisfied.
P.S. Also can fly 3D very well...like horizontal and vertical rolling circles, etc..

Best,
Nikola

Hi,
New to decent sized electrics; I have flown gas for years, but I have watched some F3A flyers and I may be hooked. I am starting slowly with an Angel. I am using the recommended motor and Castle 75 amp Lite ESC.

My maiden flight was last week with temp 39 deg, cloudy- hazy day, gusty crosswind. After take off, I had a plane that just wanted to crash. I had to hold a lot of up elevator and lots of right aileron. It took several passes and a lot of near crashes to get it trimmed. When I finally got it trimmed I did a few rolls and some stall turns. The wind really came up and I decided to land; took 2 passes to slow it down enough to land.

What I found that caused the trim problems. The wings are within 0.1 deg of the fuselage top with the cowl removed. The horizontal stab is 1.0 deg positive(leading edge is higher that trailing edge with respect to the wing). This certainly accounts for needing a lot of up elevator trim. Left wing tip is ¼” higher at the trailing edge tip that the other; that accounts for the aileron trim. I have been able to remove the warp in the wing with a heat gun. I am going to fly it some more to see if I can get it to fly properly with the stab problem. If not I will drill out the wing locator holes and set the wing to the stab incidence or maybe .5 deg positive. Then I will deal with the motor thrust line if necessary.
Are there any commercial incidence adjusters for a plane this small?
Is anyone using a brake setting on the ESC for down lines?

Thanks,
Dave

My incidence set-up is:
fuselage top with the cowl removed = 0°
Stab : 0°
Motor: 0°; - 3° Right Trust
Wing :+ 0,5°

CG as suggested on the istrustions.

Hi rosnik,
Can you change Wing and Stab incidence?

Hi Saburo_SRB,
What is your plane down thrust angle?
Thank you..

rosnik 12-24-2015 03:19 PM

Using some little skill and ane bit of brain, yes.
You can change motor and wing incidence

Can anyone still reading this thread comment on aileron / elevator throws? Aileron throws of 20 degrees seem excessive, from the 'looks' maybe 13-15 degrees. I used a throw meter and 20 degrees seem so much.

Thanks

I use the recommended throws, but with 40% Expo this gives me full deflection if I need it, but soft around the middle.

Finally had a nice Colorado day - very little wind. Like everyone else, the plane flys very well. Slight pull to the canopy on a long down line and may change wing incidence just a bit to cure this but will try the CG back 1/4" more to see if that solves the problem. It was nice to fly this quality of plane again. I have aileron throws of 3/8" which will be about right for me in 'flying mode'. I did not notice any KE mix needed but did not do long sustained KE - but plan to look at this next time out. Happy it landed so nicely each time! I have wing incidence at .4 degrees positive with stab at 0 in relation to the canopy bottom.

My Angel, sits in my basement, in perfect shape, and replaced by the MythoS 50E. I would have never thought a 50 size plane would fly better than my Angel, but it's true - with the Canalizer requiring less rudder for any rudder maneuver and with the longer nose (a bit), the Mythos snaps better. I'm also using a 6S battery on the MythoS and the Angel used a 5S. Both excellent planes. I have to do some modifications to the MythoS, like increasing the wing incidence to +.5 degrees - was a fair amount off from the box. Other changes here and there have made this plane (MythoS) a very nice pattern ship.

Interesting to read this old thread. I recently picked up a NIB, pristine AngelS EVO 50e. I will be powering it with an OS 5025-375 and 6S 5300 pack. As I have a MythoS 50E with the same power setup it will be interesting to see the differences in performance!

From the reports here it sounds like I will be happy with the plane as a practice/fun plane.

I have now assembled the Angel and I must say I am really happy with the quality of the Sebart kit.

I have now also acquired a Sebart MythoS 50e and a MythoS 125, thanks for these great planes Sebart!
