Hi

First batch of Azurit and Inspect planes received from Oxai. As they are 99% pre built not much of building steps can be shown. Some photos posted to give some pilots an idea of Oxai product. Hoping to fly soon and will give some comparison against Beryll. We have been pounded by gale force winds in past week and no flying possible.

Hi

Some photos of the completed plane. Other than with the Beryll the plane did not come with the battery tray already installed and this is your own preference. 20 grams added to weight with carbon/balsa tray.

Hi

Spinner from Philipe Marquette. Because drive washer is machined as part of spinner back plate spinner in theory only weighs 18 grams.

Weight of plane excluding batteries 3720 grams leaving 1280 grams for battery of your choice. I used TP 5300 and all up weight of plane 4850 grams.

Hi

So far only 10 flights and still busy with set-up. CG seems to be ok now. Batteries much further back than with Beryll. Placed on landing gear plate at present. Caution to other potential purchasers, you will have to keep it very light in the front and batteries and spinner will have to be on the lighter rather than heavy side. The batteries can not go back further much more. Working on thrust and incidence setups next (flying with some up elevator so will change). I will give you some feedback when I get to about 50 flights and have proper setup and start flying the schedules. Noticable better changes so far from Beryll are snaps and stall turns. All and all the plane also presents better in the air.

Hi

Don't worry, plane only 1 inch from ground so soft landing. Have seen more damage when trying to weigh in any other way other than having flat bed than can take whole plane. In South Africa we fly in any temp from 3 degrees to 32 degrees. As it is now spring we have temp of about 28 degrees celcius. Motor and batteries bit hotter than in Beryll but still cool to the touch after landing. No concern. I will log temp at later stage with data logger. As to mix nothing at present as still going through set up stage and mixes will be done last. After 18 flights happy with cg and made incidence changes in stab. Will work on thrust angles next and then get to mixes.

Where can you order that spinner from Phillipe Marquet that you are using? It certainly looks like a light, high quality spinner.

I have an Azurit coming soon.

Thanks

I don't think they have a web site, but I believe you can contact him with the following e-mail:- [email protected]

I thought you were not going to order an Azurit, too much temptation I guess ... :)

Hi

You can also try [email protected]. See their site at www.f3alorenz.de. Remember to leave enough space in the nose to get a drive washer puller in as the drive washer is machined into the spinner back plate. I will post some photos next time I remove the motor to grease.

I notice on your hinge point of the clevis, that it's not centered over the hinge line. Any reason for this?

And Adrian, you knew Jon had to have an Azurit.. If we all had both of your guys money.. :)

Burt - Would you know if F3ALorenz does have them on their site? I looked through a large number of pages on their site and I couldn't find them. (I cannot read any German so that's probably why!)

Thanks

Jon,

Regarding the very nifty spinner...let's order a few (3-4) in one box to one address in the USA and then ship to each other? If you do, I would like (1) one.

Go to the English homepage, look on the left side for"Accessories"(German Language).
Left click on RC-Flug Zubehor, scroll down to Spinner& left click again.
Look for numbers 518,505.
Re-finance something and enjoy!
Hope that helps!

Hi

The plane is supplied with all holes for the horns pre drilled, so that is what I had to work with rather than re-invent the wheel. The MK clevis used moves the hinge point forward, angle of photo taken not easy to see but they are as damm closs as one can get over the hinge point. The rudder I compensated for by bit of off-set on servo arm. Rudder pull-pull remains tight so no problem there. The rudder horn is also in line with the elevator (do not know if it was a slip up in manufacturing) so when set up you will find that you will have very short rudder horn in order to stop it from binding with the elevator pushrod when both surface are moved. I will post you a photo.

Hi

I will recomend F3Alorenz, this is where I got my spinner from. No hassles and had spinner in less than 7 days from Germany. He even posted immediately when I placed order and before the money transfer cleared (how is that for trust).

Specify 85mm for Azurit as you might get Beryll's 82mm. Be carefull when cutting spinner for prop as the spinner is attached with mini screws so you have to get it spot on first time around. Let me know when you have spinner and I can scan you the template I used for my prop cut out (APC 22x12) and this can give you starting point.
